I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 126

Finn didn't flinch or look away.

"That was for Paxton. He has a partnership with this hospital, and I was just backing him up. It has nothing to do with the facility itself, and certainly nothing to do with any specific doctor."

Yolanda's lips twitched slightly, her gaze sliding over to Grant.

Grant's eyes snapped to Finn, his stare carrying a crushing, suffocating weight.

"I heard about your little donation. Are you telling me you didn't do it for that Sienna girl?"

Yolanda's eyes narrowed with calculating scrutiny, locking onto Finn's face once more.

A heavy silence descended upon the hospital room.

Two people, four piercing eyes, pressing against his throat like cold steel.

Finn stood rigidly, his expression completely blank.

He felt like a prisoner enduring a brutal interrogation.

But he didn't falter, and he didn't panic. His voice was smooth and indifferent when he finally spoke.

"Sienna and I are ancient history," his tone was biting, so cold that even he barely recognized his own voice. "She is strictly Paxton's friend now. She means absolutely nothing to me. You both have nothing to worry about."

Grant stared at him, scrutinizing him for a very long time.

Finn held his gaze without a flicker of hesitation, passing the test.

"It better stay that way," Grant finally muttered, looking away.

Outside the room, in the sterile hallway.

Sienna stood frozen in place.

She had come upstairs specifically to find Finn.

After all, the bizarre scene she had witnessed in the garden was incredibly unsettling.

It had sparked a cascade of questions in her mind.

For the first time in four years, she was starting to question the reality of everything that had torn them apart.

She had wanted to ask Finn directly, to find some closure, and perhaps give the girl she used to be a long-overdue explanation.

*"Sienna and I are ancient history."*

*"She is strictly Paxton's friend now. She means absolutely nothing to me."*

Just moments ago, through the crack in the door, she had heard Finn say those exact words.

Sienna's hand dropped slowly to her side.

She stood in the corridor, the glaring, blinding white of the fluorescent lights washing over her, making her eyes burn and sting.

She turned and walked away.

Lying on the floor near the corner was a hair tie.

It was black, adorned with a small, silver, heart-shaped charm.

It was undeniably familiar.

He instantly pictured Sienna's high ponytail.

He snatched it off the floor, his fist closing tightly around it.

This belonged to Sienna.

She was wearing her hair up today, and that little silver charm had caught the light earlier, practically burning itself into his memory.

Could it be?

Had she been here?

Was she standing outside the door just now...

Finn's stomach plummeted into an abyss. He spun around and sprinted down the hall.

As he ran, he frantically dialed her number. It rang exactly once before being brutally disconnected.

He dialed again. He was blocked...
