"Then I'll leave it to you, Ford. Please look into it as soon as possible. Can you give me an update tonight?"
He noticed Ford's expression falter for a split second before smoothly recovering.
"Finn, I know you're anxious, but time is a bit tight. Let's aim for tomorrow night."
Finn offered a grateful smile.
"I appreciate it, Ford. Tomorrow night works."
When Finn left the manor, Ford walked him all the way to the front gates.
Finn pulled the car door open and slid inside.
In the rearview mirror, he saw Ford standing on the steps, watching him leave.
His expression was gentle, just as it always was, the very picture of a loving older sibling.
He shouldn't be doubting Ford.
But the doubt was already there.
Because he hung on every single word Sienna had said.
She had been losing a massive amount of blood and was highly emotional; she could have misheard the voice, but it had to be a remarkably similar one.
Finn started the engine.
After driving a short distance, he pulled over to the side of the road.
He grabbed his phone and dialed a number.
"Arthur, it's been a while. Since you left our family three years ago, we haven't talked much. How has your health been?"
Arthur Winston, the former butler of the Fletcher estate, had watched him grow up.
The fatherly affection Finn never received from Grant, he had found in Arthur.
For some reason, Arthur had suddenly decided to resign three years ago, and no amount of persuasion could stop him.
On the other end of the line, Arthur clearly sounded thrilled to hear from him.
Finn cut right to the chase.
"Do you remember four years ago, when the family forced me out of the country? Who had my phone at that time?"
After a few seconds of heavy silence, Arthur finally spoke a single sentence.
The light in Finn's eyes instantly died, his posture collapsing as he slumped back into the leather seat, completely drained of strength.
Sunlight poured through the windshield, illuminating his face, yet all he felt was an icy, bone-deep chill.
"I understand. Thank you."
Arthur added another thought.
