The paramedics arrived.
"One dose of sublingual nitroglycerin administered six minutes ago," Sienna reported briskly.
The lead EMT took the handoff, giving her a deeply appreciative look.
"Your rapid response just saved his life. You did all the heavy lifting before we even got here."
Jarvis was carefully transferred onto the stretcher.
Lance followed them for two steps before suddenly stopping and turning back.
He looked directly at Finn.
"Finn, I owe you for today. I won't forget this. And about that strategic pivot you outlined—I'm fully on board. Let's sit down and hammer out the details soon."
Finn gave a curt nod.
"Take care of Jarvis first."
Lance rushed out after the stretcher.
The rest of the executives began filtering out of the room.
While a tiny fraction still looked hesitant, the overwhelming majority were already going out of their way to offer Finn polite nods and murmured words of alignment.
Soon, the sprawling boardroom was empty, leaving only Finn and Sienna.
Finn stared at her.
Her knuckles were still slightly flushed, her fingers tightly curled around that tiny, unassuming plastic bottle. It was no bigger than a thumbnail, cheap white plastic.
But with that insignificant little bottle, she had just successfully leveraged one-third of the entire corporate voting block right into his hands.
"You just carry emergency meds on you everywhere?" he asked softly.
"A habit from the ER. Some things are hard to shake," Sienna replied, slipping the bottle back into her pocket, deliberately keeping her eyes averted.
As she stood there, Finn noticed a small, dusty smudge on her knee from kneeling on the boardroom carpet.
Without a word, he crouched down and gently brushed the dust away.
The second his warm fingers grazed her skin through the thin fabric, a jolt of electricity shot up Sienna's leg.
She jerked backward violently.
"What the hell are you doing?"
Finn stayed crouched, his hand still hovering in the exact spot her knee had been.
"There was dust on you," he said, looking up at her with maddeningly innocent, clear eyes.
Sienna was utterly exasperated.
