[Sienna, remember the NPC role for the festival I mentioned? I have a massive surprise for you.]
Landon White had attached several photos to the text.
Sienna tapped to enlarge the images, feeling her mood lift instantly.
They were all gorgeous, period-accurate dresses of every variety.
They were far more intricate than the ones Landon had shown her at the Bistro, and they were all in pristine condition.
There was an ivory empire-waist gown, the hem heavily embroidered with silver thread that caught the light like crushed diamonds.
An emerald green wrap dress with a pale yellow sash, the color as crisp and refreshing as a spring lake.
And a crimson ceremonial gown, completely decked out with intricate gold embroidery of mythical birds soaring from the neckline to the hem, so luxurious it looked like a museum piece.
You couldn't just casually run into historical pieces of this caliber in the real world.
Landon sent another message:
[The organizers saw your photos and were completely blown away. They pulled several character options for you overnight and want you to try them all on. The wardrobe team already has the pieces. Come down and try them out, and we can finalize your role. I just know you're going to absolutely steal the show.]
Sienna stared at the photos, the heavy, suffocating weight in her chest suddenly letting in a ray of light.
There was something so refreshing about young people; they always knew how to clear the storm clouds away.
She desperately needed a distraction to help her recharge and completely block Finn out of her mind. This was the perfect opportunity.
She texted back:
[Sounds perfect. Set it up.]
-
Finn walked out of the hospital, the medical report still crumpled in his fist.
Everything had been supposed to go perfectly.
He would get admitted, keep Sienna on as his attending physician, and stay right there until his heart was totally cleared...
But he had ruined it all.
He climbed into his car and reached for the ignition.
The passenger door suddenly opened, and Chloe slid into the seat.
Finn felt a surge of explosive annoyance.
"Chloe, what the hell are you doing here?"
He turned his head, his voice low, but the icy hostility seeped all the way into her bones.
"I was worried about you," Chloe said, placing her clutch on her lap and turning to face him. "I cooked dinner for you. You need to come home and eat. You didn't come back last night, and York wouldn't stop asking for you."
Finn refused to look at her.
It meant he still acknowledged their bond on some level.
Sienna was good at playing it cool, maintaining her stoic composure, but Chloe knew her sudden appearance had struck a devastating blow.
She didn't need Finn to be entirely devoted to her; she just needed to show up exactly when it mattered.
That was more than enough.
Once she reasoned her way through it, her spirits lifted immensely.
The look she directed at Finn softened into genuine affection.
Finn pulled up to the grand iron gates of the Fletcher estate.
"Get out," he ordered, his tone uncompromisingly cold.
"Finn, please just come in for a little bit. It's your favorite..."
"I said, get out!" Finn shot her a look so lethal that Chloe physically flinched.
He looked like an absolute demon.
Chloe forced a strained smile and nervously tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Well, drive safe. York is waiting for you, so please don't disappoint him."
She didn't dare linger for another second, hastily pushing the door open and stepping out.
