I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 519

The doctor replied.

"The child has minor contusions on his head. There's no intracranial bleeding, but given the impact, he'll need to be monitored. He aspirated water, which caused a mild lung infection, so we'll be watching that closely as well."

Finn let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding.

"Can we see him?"

"Are you the boy's father?" the doctor asked.

Finn instinctively glanced at Sienna.

Sienna answered for him.

"Yes, he's the father."

The doctor's gaze dropped to Finn and Sienna's tightly interlocked hands.

"So, are you the mother?"

Sienna choked on her words.

Before she could answer, the doctor continued.

"He just woke up. The moment he did, he was frantically looking for someone, crying out for his 'Mom.' It seems his mother is the most important person in his life. If you're his mom, you're the one he needs to see right now."

A sharp pain pierced Sienna's heart.

"I..."

The child's mother was Chloe.

But Chloe was already...

She didn't hesitate for long, neatly sidestepping the direct question.

"Thank you, Doctor. We'll go in and see him."

The doctor stepped aside.

"Don't stay too long. He needs plenty of rest."

Finn nodded, gripping Sienna's hand as he pushed open the door to the room.

The room was dead quiet, save for the rhythmic, low beeping of the monitors.

The curtains were drawn halfway, and a single bedside lamp cast a warm, dim glow over the white sheets, bathing the room in a surreal, hazy light.

York lay in the hospital bed, his tiny body swallowed by the stark white linens. His head was wrapped in gauze, and one of his small arms was bandaged.

His eyes were closed, his eyelashes resting against his pale cheeks, his breathing shallow.
