Early the next morning, the family of four flew to Hawaii.
The moment they stepped out of the cabin, the warm, humid sea breeze draped over them like a soft blanket, completely washing away the last traces of the Metropolis winter chill.
Standing at the airport exit, Sienna looked up at the sky. The blue here was entirely different from Metropolis—crystal clear, bright, and completely devoid of dust.
The Fletchers owned several properties here.
Finn had chosen a beachfront villa closest to the shore.
Opening the floor-to-ceiling windows led straight to the beach.
Every morning, Maeve and Grant drank tea on the terrace and watched the ocean, occasionally taking strolls along the coastline.
Finn took Sienna snorkeling, surfing, and hiking through Volcanoes National Park.
The days flowed by peacefully, one after another.
The evening a week later was their last full day before leaving.
The setting sun dyed the entire ocean in fractured, golden-red light. The waves rolled in layer by layer, then receded, leaving damp traces on the sand.
Finn and Sienna walked side by side where the water met the shore, not caring that their pant legs were getting soaked by the tide.
Sienna kept her head down, watching the water rush up to cover her ankles and then pull away, taking the fine sand beneath her feet with it.
The sea breeze blew the loose hair across her forehead. She reached up to tuck it back, stopped, and turned to face Finn.
"I've made up my mind," Sienna's voice was clear over the wind and the crashing waves. "You should go."
Finn froze for a moment.
"I've thought about it. Loving someone means protecting their dreams. I can't let you live with regrets." She looked up into his eyes. "Go complete your mission. I'll wait for you to come back, and then we'll get married and have kids."
Finn didn't speak. He took a step forward and pulled her into his arms. It was a long time before he finally spoke, his voice slightly hoarse.
"Okay. Thank you."
