I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 73

Finn's phone buzzed.

He glanced down. It was Isaac.

He didn't answer and rejected the call.

Yolanda watched him.

"Who was it?"

Finn flipped his phone face down on the table.

"No one."

"You were just saying..." Yolanda actively brought up the previous topic.

Finn sneered inwardly.

It seemed the wedding was indeed the perfect bait. The more anxious she was, the heavier the leverage he held.

"Mom, let's talk about it tomorrow. I'm tired."

He stood up and headed upstairs.

Chloe followed him.

"Finn, York was asking for you all day. Do you want to go see him..."

Finn didn't even spare her a glance, his tone icy.

"He's probably asleep at this hour."

"Y-yes, he's asleep, but you can still check on him even if he's sleeping..."

Finn grew impatient.

"To see what? And wake the kid up? Use your head."

Chloe's mouth turned down, her eyes instantly reddening.

But before her tears could fall, Finn had already walked away.

Chloe awkwardly pursed her lips and looked back at Yolanda.

Yolanda was still mulling over the conversation. She looked at Chloe.

"It's rare for him to relent and bring up the wedding himself. That is the most important thing. Once you're married, given his personality and how much he values a complete family, he'll never mistreat you. When that time comes, that Sterling woman won't matter at all."

Encouraged, Chloe nodded vigorously.

"You're right. I'll listen to whatever you say."

Finn went upstairs, locked his door, and pulled out his phone.

Isaac had sent three messages.

He opened them, the screen's glow illuminating his face.

Finn knew she wouldn't hand over the envelope easily.

She would undoubtedly state her conditions.

He deliberately refrained from asking, waiting for her to say it herself.

Sure enough, Yolanda lost her patience first.

"Finn, I can give this to you." She picked up her teacup and took a sip. "But you need to show some sincerity."

"Chloe mentioned wedding dress shopping to you several times, and you never went." Yolanda put down her cup and looked at him. "You should have time today, right?"

Finn looked at her.

"Fine," he nodded. "Then let's go today."

Yolanda smiled.

It was a highly satisfied smile, like a hunter watching their prey step into a trap.

She pushed the envelope forward.

"Take this. Read it on your own time. No rush."

Finn took the envelope, pinching the edge of the thick paper, but didn't open it.

He stood up and tucked it under his arm.
