When Sienna said the name, her tone was entirely flat, as if commenting on the nice weather.
Isaac looked at her, panic flickering in his eyes.
"Of course not... how could he..."
"I know now, Director Holloway. Let's eat," Sienna suddenly cut him off.
Isaac smoothed over his expression, but internally, he was freaking out, silently worrying if he had just given himself away. Sienna didn't say another word after that.
He kept glancing up at her.
She was composed, calm, and utterly rational.
Just as the meal was drawing to a close, it finally dawned on Isaac.
"When did you find out?" he asked, putting down his silverware.
"Just now." Sienna set her fork down too.
Isaac was stunned.
Sienna's gaze was mild.
"Before this, it was just a suspicion. But now, I'm sure."
Realization crashed over Isaac, leaving him drowning in regret.
God, Sienna hadn't been certain at all.
She had been playing a long game.
Just when he thought the battle was over, Sienna had only just launched her offensive.
He lost, and in doing so, he completely sold Finn out.
Sorry, buddy.
He silently apologized in his head.
Then, he laughed.
Sienna couldn't laugh; she only felt a bitter taste in her mouth.
Why Finn?
How was she supposed to deal with this?
"You and him really are quite a pair," Isaac said, picking up his glass for a sip.
Sienna looked at him.
"Since you're his friend, you should know that we haven't been a pair for a long time."
She lowered her head, picked up her fork again, and took a bite of sea bass.
Silence stretched on the other end for two seconds.
"How did she find out?"
"I blew it. She tricked me, and I folded." Isaac leaned back against the headrest, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Sorry, man."
"It's fine." Finn's voice was perfectly calm. "She's meticulous. Once she gets suspicious, she won't stop until she finds the truth."
Isaac paused.
He thought Finn would complain, but Finn sounded as if this was exactly what he had expected.
"What are you going to do?" he asked.
"Isaac, you have her on WeChat, right?" Finn's tone turned cautious.
"Yeah."
"Send her contact to me," Finn said.
"Alright."
Isaac hung up, tapped his fingers against the steering wheel twice, then picked up his phone and forwarded Sienna's contact card to Finn.
"Sent. Make sure you write a clear message in the request, so she doesn't think you're harassing her."
Finn tapped on Sienna's contact card and stared at her profile picture.
