Meanwhile.
The air conditioning in the car was running full blast, feeling almost biting.
Bonnie pressed herself against the car door, trying to minimize her presence as much as possible.
The aura of the man beside her was simply too overwhelming.
Quentin leaned against the backrest, his eyes closed. In the dim lighting, his handsome, sharp profile looked exceptionally distant and unreadable.
Bonnie fidgeted nervously with her fingers.
She could clearly sense that the man was in a terrible mood.
Just then, the phone in her pocket vibrated violently.
Bonnie hastily pulled it out, seeing Jasmine's name flashing on the screen.
She instinctively glanced at Quentin. Seeing that his eyes were still closed, she bit her lip and hit the reject button.
With the current atmosphere, it really wasn't a good time to take a call.
However, before she could even put the phone away, it started vibrating again.
Feeling a headache coming on, she was just about to decline it a second time.
"Answer it."
A low, detached voice suddenly broke the silence.
Quentin hadn't even opened his eyes. His voice was completely flat, yet it carried an undeniable tone of command.
Bonnie's spine stiffened, and she had no choice but to hit accept.
"Hey, Bonnie! What the hell, why did you hang up on me the second it rang?"
Jasmine's loud, bubbly voice blasted through the speaker.
Even without it being on speakerphone, every word echoed clearly in the confined, pin-drop silent space of the luxury car.
"You finished your driving test, right? Where are you now?"
Bonnie was so embarrassed she wanted the floorboards to swallow her whole. She deliberately lowered her voice.
"Yeah, I finished. What's up?"
"Incredible news, that's what!"
Jasmine practically screamed with excitement over the line. "Curtis actually listened to Mr. York's stock advice, and every single one of those stocks skyrocketed! He made thousands of dollars in an instant!"
"I just forced him to go to the bank and withdraw twenty thousand in cash. I'm going to bring it to you."
"Weren't you taking your driving test today? I happen to be running errands near the school, and I'm at the entrance right now. Where are you?"
