I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 116

Master Thorne muttered under his breath as he tossed the so-called masterpiece of a medical paper straight into the trash.

Late that night, Nathaniel lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

He had been searching for a final apprentice for two years, interviewing countless top-tier medical students, but none had caught his eye.

Actually, that wasn't entirely true. There was one.

But the stubborn girl probably still had no idea of his true identity.

Nathaniel sat bolt upright, switched on his bedside lamp, and put on his reading glasses. With trembling hands, he scrolled through his phone until he found Bonnie's contact.

He hesitated for a long moment before finally giving in and sending a text: [Bonnie, how would you like to be my apprentice?]

After hitting send, the older man stared at the screen, a strange wave of nervous anticipation washing over him.

He fully expected Bonnie to be so thrilled she wouldn't be able to sleep. After all, the line of people in Harlow City begging to study under him stretched for miles.

To his utter shock, she replied almost instantly.

Bonnie: [Master Thorne, I truly appreciate the incredible honor.]

Bonnie: [But I've studied under my grandfather since I was a child, so I already belong to a lineage. Our field is strict about loyalty, and I can't break tradition by switching allegiances. I hope you understand.]

Nathaniel stared at the words on the screen, completely dumbfounded.

People usually fought tooth and nail just to sweep his floors. This was the first time in his entire life he had ever been rejected!

He huffed, his face flushing with indignation, and immediately started aggressively tapping out a rebuttal.

Another message popped up before he could finish.

Bonnie: [However, I'd love to visit you at the retirement home more often. We could discuss medical cases and formulas together. How does that sound?]

Nathaniel read the message and actually let out an amused scoff into the empty room.

"You clueless little kid, do you have any idea who you just rejected?"

...

Meanwhile, at Riverstone Heights.

Bonnie stared at her phone screen, watching the "typing..." bubble flash at the top of the chat window.

It flashed for two agonizing minutes, but not a single word came through.

She blinked, deciding not to wait around like a fool, and opened a pharmacy app to order a few medicinal herbs.

Just then, the bathroom door opened.
