Caleb stood frozen for a moment before realization dawned on him, his eyes lighting up.
Looking around shiftily, he lowered his voice.
"Bonnie, I get it! I'll be your inside man!"
Amused by his dramatics, Bonnie shook her head with a laugh and continued walking.
Caleb jogged to keep up, his curiosity getting the better of him. "But seriously, do you actually have plans tomorrow, or were you just trying to dodge them?"
"I actually have plans. I'm taking lessons for my driver's license."
"Oh, really? I've been meaning to sign up for that too. Which driving school are you using? Send me the contact."
Bonnie pulled out her phone and forwarded the coach's digital business card.
"He's a great instructor, but the fee is a bit steep."
After taking a few more steps, a sudden thought crossed Bonnie's mind.
She turned back. "Caleb, is there any way you can get your hands on Seraphina's paper?"
Caleb hesitated, scratching the back of his head.
"Attending physicians' papers go straight to the medical affairs department and the Society. Technically, someone in logistics like me isn't supposed to have access."
Noticing the intensity in Bonnie's eyes, he immediately puffed out his chest.
"But... if you need to see it, I'll figure out a way to get it for you."
Bonnie raised an eyebrow. "Can you really?"
"Just wait, I've got this!"
Caleb thumped his chest confidently, spun on his heel, and sprinted back toward the hospital's administrative building.
Watching his energetic retreat, Bonnie shrugged with a fond smile and headed toward the east gate.
...
Meanwhile, outside the main entrance of the Davenport International Medical Center.
A sleek black Maybach idled smoothly by the curb, gleaming under the golden glow of the setting sun.
As soon as Seraphina stepped out of the hospital doors, she spotted the familiar car.
A sugary-sweet smile instantly blossomed on her face. She practically skipped over, pulled open the passenger door, and slid inside.
