I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 13

Quentin's footsteps came to a halt.

He hadn't slept properly in a solid week, and it felt as if a thousand needles were relentlessly piercing his brain.

The agonizing migraine pushing him to the brink of insanity had left him with an incredibly volatile temper.

Closing his eyes, he ultimately gave in.

"Try it."

He turned around, set the water glass down on the coffee table, and let his massive frame sink into the oversized leather sofa.

"Alright, just give me one second."

Bonnie's face lit up, and she quickly jogged into the bathroom.

She washed her hands thoroughly with warm water and rubbed her palms together vigorously until they generated heat before approaching the sofa.

Quentin had his eyes closed, the back of his head resting against the sofa. His jawline was clamped tight, sharp enough to cut glass.

Taking a deep breath, Bonnie slowly extended her hands and rested her fingertips against his temples.

Her movements were incredibly light and soothing.

Her warm fingertips, carrying the faint, comforting scent of herbs, gently massaged his pressure points in slow circles.

Quentin's entire body went rigidly tense.

"Relax, Mr. Vance. Follow my breathing. Exhale... Inhale..."

Bonnie's voice was as soft as a spring breeze, carrying a remarkably grounding energy.

Her fingers glided up from his temples, landing precisely on the crown of his head.

One press. Two presses.

The pressure was perfectly balanced, delivering an undeniable, penetrating relief.

Quentin felt a wave of warmth flowing directly from her fingertips into his agitated, exhausted mind.

The sharp, stabbing pain actually began to recede.

Bonnie's fingers then moved to the base of his skull and the tension points along his neck.

She was using the specialized physical therapy techniques passed down through her family, specifically designed to regulate circulation and combat insomnia.

She needed to go grocery shopping.

Bonnie grabbed her bag, changed her shoes, and headed out.

Riverstone Heights was located right in the heart of the city's bustling financial district, surrounded by towering skyscrapers.

Yet, the moment you stepped inside the estate, the high stone walls and lush greenery completely blocked out the chaos, providing a perfect sanctuary.

Bonnie headed straight for the estate's boutique supermarket.

But when she saw a single tomato priced at thirty dollars, she silently set her basket back down.

That was highway robbery.

Even though she had received a two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand-dollar advance, she needed to save the bulk of it for her mother's medication. Every penny had to be spent wisely.

Instead, Bonnie walked out of the estate and hiked fifteen minutes until she found an old, bustling local market.

The place was packed, loud, and full of life.

Bonnie walked through the stalls, picking and haggling, until she managed to buy all the nourishing herbs and ingredients she needed.
