I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 142

Since her mother had already made the journey here, and the truth had been so maliciously twisted by Seraphina, there was no point in keeping the secret any longer.

But she had to make sure her mother was physically stable enough to handle the devastating blow.

"Mom, try to stay calm. I'm taking you somewhere quiet, and I'll tell you absolutely everything."

Bonnie took her mother directly to a nearby luxury hotel.

Walking up to the front desk, she pulled out her ID. "Hi, I need a standard room, please."

The receptionist took the card with both hands and offered a polite smile. "Certainly, ma'am. Our most affordable rate tonight is four hundred dollars. Will that work?"

Hearing 'four hundred dollars,' Jillian gasped in horror.

She grabbed Bonnie's arm, dropping her voice into a frantic whisper.

"Bonnie, I am not staying here! It's way too expensive!"

Bonnie gently patted her hand. "Mom, every hotel around here costs this much. Just relax and stay here. Don't worry about the money. I have savings, and my salary right now is incredibly high. I really don't mind spending this."

Jillian looked at her daughter's calm, confident face, then glanced around the lobby at the men and women in tailored suits.

Ultimately, she stopped arguing, but she still sighed heavily, clearly distressed over the expense.

After much coaxing, the two finally made it into the room.

Jillian stood on the plush carpet, staring at the massive, pristine bed and the dazzling city skyline visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

It was a level of luxury she hadn't seen in her entire life. Everything looked utterly alien and fascinating.

But she was in no mood to admire the view.

The second the door clicked shut, Jillian grabbed Bonnie's arm, her face a mask of desperate anxiety.

"Bonnie, there's no one else here now. Tell me the absolute truth. Did you... did you really do what that woman said? Did you dump Parrish to chase after a rich man?"

Looking into her mother's bloodshot, terrified eyes, Bonnie felt a lump form thick in her throat.
