I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 157

Bonnie looked up.

She met his dark, intense eyes, which were locked unblinkingly onto her face.

He was gauging her reaction, trying to determine exactly how much lingering attachment she had for her ex.

Bonnie took a deep breath and closed her medical textbook.

Her expression remained totally calm, almost indifferent.

"I'll follow your lead. If you're willing to bring me along, I will do my best to play the role of Mrs. Vance."

Quentin's gaze darkened slightly.

He didn't speak immediately, letting his scrutinizing stare linger on her face for a long time.

Bonnie didn't shrink away, meeting his gaze openly.

Her eyes were clear, void of any internal struggle or sorrow.

Quentin seemed satisfied enough with her reaction, a faint curve pulling at the corner of his lips.

"Do you know about my relationship with Parrish?"

Bonnie shook her head honestly. "No."

"But I assume you two don't get along, otherwise you wouldn't be asking me this."

She paused, a hint of resolve entering her voice. "If you want to use me to piss him off, I'll play along."

Quentin raised an eyebrow.

He clearly hadn't expected Bonnie to be so straightforward.

No coyness, no trace of nostalgia for a past romance.

This made him even more certain that this woman had truly given up on Parrish.

His fingers tapped lightly against his knee, and a moment later, he said evenly, "Alright, as you wish."

Bonnie pursed her lips slightly, taking his "as you wish" to mean he had agreed to bring her along to crash the party.
