Then he spoke coldly to Seraphina. "That patient is under your care. Go check on him immediately. You are not allowed to hand off any subsequent treatments, medicine prep, or brewing to anyone else."
Seraphina braced herself and walked out.
But the moment she appeared, the middle-aged woman lost her mind and lunged at her.
"It's the medicine you prescribed! You people are scammers! You're trying to kill us!"
The woman cursed loudly while crying, her voice so shrill it could pierce an eardrum.
"We paid so much money for this! It's no wonder fewer people use this stuff now—it's nothing but a scam to steal our money! We want a real doctor! We want our money back! And compensation!"
By now, the entrance to the pavilion was completely blocked by a crowd.
Many passersby had pulled out their phones, furiously taking photos of the lobby, and some had even started live-streaming.
The situation had escalated into a severe public relations crisis and a major medical dispute.
Dr. Zimmerman's face turned livid as he had to step forward himself, bowing to the cameras over and over to make a promise.
"Everyone, please remain calm. The Davenport Wellness Pavilion will absolutely investigate the root of the problem, and we will not tolerate any misconduct!"
"If the fault is truly ours, we will ensure the family receives a proper apology and the compensation they deserve!"
After continuous persuasion from the director and security, the crowd finally began to disperse.
The middle-aged woman was also coaxed into the lounge.
"Bonnie, come to my office."
Dr. Zimmerman rubbed his temples, his tone exhausted.
Once inside the office, Dr. Zimmerman looked at Bonnie, asking in a low voice, "Bonnie, tell me the truth. When you were brewing the medicine today, did you get distracted? Did you make a mistake?"
Alarm bells immediately went off in Bonnie's head.
She kept her back perfectly straight, her eyes clear and resolute.
"Dr. Zimmerman, I can guarantee on my entire career that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the medicine I brewed."
She had grown up following her grandfather, learning to identify and prep herbs. She could determine the heat level with her eyes closed, relying solely on the scent and the sound from the pot.
There was simply no way she could have messed up the procedure.
