Sitting on the leather sofa in the reception area was an elderly man with graying hair.
He wore a finely tailored gray traditional jacket, leisurely skimming the foam off a celadon teacup in his hand.
Bonnie would recognize that face even if it were burned to ashes.
Gideon Graves.
The very culprit who had driven her grandfather to a wrongful death and forced the Hayes family into utter ruin.
Bonnie's hands instantly clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms so hard it sent a sharp pain through her.
Gideon slowly looked up, his trademark hypocritical smile plastered on his face.
He looked benevolent, like a highly respected elder.
"Bonnie, it's been a long time."
He sighed, his tone thick with an elder's pity and helplessness toward a younger generation.
"I never expected you to still be so careless as to make such a colossal mistake. I told you back then that you weren't suited for the medical field, but you refused to listen. Now look at you—your reputation is completely ruined."
Listening to his nauseatingly fake concern, Bonnie felt her stomach churn.
She took a deep breath, suppressing the hatred roiling in her chest, and turned to look at the conflicted Dr. Zimmerman behind the desk.
"Dr. Zimmerman, do you also believe this incident is my fault?"
Dr. Zimmerman sighed, his eyes reflecting complicated helplessness.
"Bonnie, I had someone check the dregs, and there was absolutely no trace of the Pinellia Extract you texted me about. Instead... they detected a massive dose of laxatives inside."
"If we keep investigating this, it won't do anyone any good. There's no point anymore."
Bonnie scoffed internally; the dregs in the pharmacy had been swapped out.
They were dead set on pinning the blame entirely on her today.
Fortunately, she never fought a battle unprepared.
Expressionless, Bonnie pulled out her phone and swiped the screen a few times.
"When I went to the pharmacy disposal area yesterday to look through the dregs, I recorded the entire process. The video clearly shows the components of the dregs and my real-time identification of the herbs. Dr. Zimmerman, I just sent you the video. You can watch it right now."
