Jasper replied quickly: [No. Why do you ask all of a sudden, Mrs. Vance?]
Staring at the screen, Bonnie's heart skipped a beat, and her fingers flew across the keyboard.
[Then what exactly was the relationship between Vivian and Mr. Vance... in the past?]
Jasper's end went silent.
Bonnie awkwardly placed her phone face down on the sofa, feeling anxious.
Heat waves rolled outside, but the air conditioning in the living room was blasting.
"Ma'am, have some fruit. I just sliced it."
The private chef, a middle-aged man, walked over with an exquisite fruit platter.
Watermelon, mangoes, and cherries were carved into beautiful shapes, presented even more elegantly than in a five-star hotel.
Overwhelmed, Bonnie quickly stood up and took it with both hands.
"Thank you, sir. You really didn't have to go through so much trouble. I'm just an employee myself; you can just call me Bonnie."
The chef smiled so widely his eyes crinkled shut, yet his tone remained incredibly respectful.
"I couldn't do that. Mr. Vance explicitly instructed that you are the lady of the house, and we must take perfect care of you."
Bonnie forced a smile and sat back down on the sofa, feeling helpless.
She used a toothpick to stab a piece of chilled watermelon and popped it into her mouth. It was sweet and refreshing.
But she couldn't help muttering in her heart.
Was Quentin putting on too much of a show just to make Vivian jealous?
He was treating her so well, but Vivian couldn't even see it. Did she need to figure out a way to leak all this "affection" to Vivian so Quentin's efforts wouldn't go to waste?
*Ding.*
Her phone screen lit up. Jasper finally replied.
[Mrs. Vance, regarding Mr. Vance's private matters, it would be best to ask him directly.]
Bonnie replied helplessly: [Like I'd dare! Can't you just give me a tiny hint?]
She followed it up with a pleading, hands-clasped sticker.
