I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 176

If she didn't spend the money, she would feel uneasy; if she did, she felt like a bought-and-paid-for commodity.

On her way back, Bonnie rode her little scooter, her mind entirely occupied by Quentin's teasing remark about "not being on the losing end."

Passing a 24-hour convenience store, she abruptly hit the brakes, the pink scooter wobbling slightly by the curb.

She stared at the adult product vending machine by the entrance, her face flushing in waves.

After hovering under the scorching sun for a full five minutes, Bonnie gritted her teeth, lowered her head, and dashed over like a thief.

When she emerged, there was an unopened box of condoms in her bag.

Once home, she slipped into the medical room, where the large screen displayed Quentin's real-time physical monitoring data.

Chewing on her fingernail, Bonnie stared at the numbers, a fierce battle raging in her mind.

Anyway, her original goal was to cure his eyes.

As for his physical tension and repressed state, she had been trying to find a way to treat that too.

Since she had decided to take the money and be a proper Mrs. Vance, she might as well consider this part of his medical treatment.

She gripped the little box in her bag tightly, returning to the bedroom with burning cheeks.

At 3 PM, her phone suddenly rang. It was Dr. Zimmerman from the clinic.

"Bonnie, get yourself ready and come back to work tomorrow. The patient dispute has been resolved."

Bonnie paused, finding it hard to believe. "Dr. Zimmerman, I don't have to take the blame anymore?"

Dr. Zimmerman laughed heartily on the other end. "What blame? It wasn't your fault to begin with. If Mr. York hadn't kept pressuring us, you wouldn't have been dragged into it at all."

"It's the strangest thing. Today, The Joint Audit Commission suddenly dropped by for an inspection and investigated Seraphina directly. She's been suspended pending an investigation."

Bonnie's mouth dropped open in shock.

To her, a medical dispute was just a public relations issue. How did it trigger an investigation from a high-level commission?

"Dr. Zimmerman, why did the commission act so fast?"

"Who knows? There was no warning at all; it completely blindsided Mr. York's side. Anyway, don't overthink it. Come back and just shadow the doctors. Keep up the good work."
