I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 177

She turned and practically bolted toward the bedroom, her limbs moving awkwardly like a panicked duckling scrambling for cover.

"No rush."

Quentin slowly set down his silverware, his deep gaze resting on her tense back.

"Shower after we're done."

Bonnie's feet nailed themselves to the floor.

She turned her head blankly, staring at the noble, aloof man bathed in the dining room lights.

This guy... actually wanted to dictate the order in which she showered?

"But I'm not used to it..."

Bonnie bit her lip, her voice as faint as a mosquito's but laced with stubbornness.

"I want to shower first."

Quentin raised an eyebrow, a hint of genuine confusion in his dark eyes.

"It's just a walk. Why do you need to shower first? Can't you wash when we get back?"

Bonnie froze in place. She turned around fully, her eyes wide, her mind entirely blank.

A walk?

When he said "eat up so you'll have energy," he meant for a walk downstairs?

And when he said "shower after we're done," he meant after the walk?

Bonnie wished she could crawl into a hole and disappear.

The heat spread from her neck straight to the tips of her ears; she felt like she was about to spontaneously combust.

Looking at her crimson face and glancing over her body, Quentin seemed to piece it together.

The corner of his mouth curved up imperceptibly, his eyes tinged with amusement.

"What did you think..."

He intentionally paused, drawing out his words with a raspy edge.

"...you were getting ready for by showering?"

"I wasn't thinking anything!"

Bonnie bristled instantly, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

"I... I'm going to go change! I'll wait for you at the door!"

Without daring to look at him, she spun around and darted into the bedroom like a frightened rabbit.

Sitting at the table, staring at the firmly shut door, a low, throaty chuckle escaped Quentin's lips.

...

Although it was past 7 PM, the air was still thick with a suffocating, sticky heat.

Bonnie changed into a simple white T-shirt, shorts, and flat sandals, following closely by Quentin's side.

The tall, broad-shouldered man wore a premium light shirt with the top two buttons undone, giving him a languid air.

The neighborhood's landscaping was pristine, but it did nothing to block the sweltering heat.
