With his free hand, Quentin seamlessly scooped up the blue box of medication from the table, looking as casual as if it belonged to him.
"Hey... wait."
Stumbling slightly as he pulled her, Bonnie could only glance back over her shoulder and wave hurriedly at Vivian.
"Ms. Xavier, we're heading out! Dinner is on me next time!"
Vivian remained seated in the booth, her posture elegant and composed as she waved back with a smile.
"Goodbye, Ms. Hayes."
It wasn't until the tall, imposing man led Bonnie completely out of the coffee shop that the smile on Vivian's face vanished entirely.
She leaned back against her chair, her eyes turning as cold as ice.
Buzz—
Her phone vibrated on the table.
Vivian picked it up and saw a text from Parrish.
[You gave five vials of the medication to Bonnie? What the hell are you playing at?]
Every word dripped with suppressed rage and interrogation.
Vivian let out a cold scoff and casually typed her reply.
[Watch yourself. Bonnie Hayes isn't some nobody without backing.]
The reply came almost instantaneously, radiating furious panic.
[What backing could she possibly have! You really will try to buy off anyone, won't you? What use is Bonnie to you? Do you honestly think she can help you chase after my brother?]
Staring at the word "brother," a complex, hidden emotion flickered in Vivian's eyes.
She typed back coldly: [I'll warn you one last time. Stop making choices you'll regret. There's no cure for regret in this world.]
Without waiting for a response, Vivian tossed her phone into her designer bag, stood up, and walked out of the cafe.
...
On the drive back, the atmosphere inside the car was suffocatingly tense.
Quentin sat in the passenger seat, one hand propping up his chin as he stared out the window.
His jaw was clenched tight, and his expression was absolutely terrifying.
Bonnie kept both hands firmly on the steering wheel, her eyes locked onto the road ahead.
But her mind wouldn't stop replaying the scene outside the cafe—the kiss that had almost happened.
Bonnie felt completely flustered. She couldn't understand why Quentin, who was perfectly sober, would do something like that.
If it was purely to put on a show for Vivian, wasn't he taking his acting a bit too far?
"My true love is not Vivian."
