I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 203

Before Bonnie could say a word, Vivian took a step forward, shielding her as she frowned slightly.

"Parrish, Ms. Hayes clearly knows her stuff. Just because you're angry doesn't mean you should take it out on her."

Standing behind Parrish, Seraphina's eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

She couldn't fathom why someone as arrogant and elite as Vivian Xavier would step up to defend Bonnie.

Just what kind of spell had Bonnie cast? Why was everyone constantly bending over backward to protect her?

Seraphina dug her nails viciously into her palms, the jealousy in her eyes practically overflowing.

Parrish stared at his fiancée standing protectively in front of Bonnie, his expression turning even uglier.

"Vivian, you're taking her side too?"

Vivian's expression remained perfectly cool, showing no signs of backing down.

"I only trust what I see with my own eyes. Ms. Hayes's foundational knowledge is incredibly solid. She's as capable as anyone here."

"Absurd," Parrish sneered, his eyes brimming with mockery. "Do you even know who she is? Do you know who her grandfather killed during a medical treatment?"

Vivian's brows drew together. She didn't respond immediately, turning instead to cast a glance at Bonnie.

Bonnie had initially been both surprised and grateful for Vivian's defense.

But the moment Parrish brought up her grandfather, her heart plummeted, and a heavy sense of dread washed over her.

Parrish stared her down, enunciating every word as if deliberately trying to tear her open.

"Years ago, your grandfather fell severely ill and traveled all the way from Arlington seeking treatment from Harrison Hayes. But after a few doses of his medicine, the old man died that very night."

He turned to Vivian, his tone chillingly callous. "Vivian, are you seriously going to stand up for the granddaughter of the man who murdered your grandfather?"

Vivian's frown instantly deepened into a harsh scowl.

Bonnie felt completely blindsided. She had always known that the victim in her grandfather's tragic misdiagnosis case was an incredibly powerful figure from Arlington.

But never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that the man was Vivian's grandfather.

"That's not what happened!"

Bonnie's eyes stung with desperate tears. She couldn't bear for Vivian to misunderstand, nor could she let her grandfather carry that foul stain for another second.

"My grandpa was innocent! Someone deliberately covered up your grandfather's medical history and his allergies. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the prescription my grandpa wrote!"

Vivian fell silent. She looked at Bonnie, a storm of complex emotions swirling in her eyes.

After a long moment, she finally spoke. "I will investigate this matter personally. But until I uncover the truth, I won't blindly trust either of your words."
