I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 204

"Alright, kiddo."

Nathaniel patted her shoulder. "Have your husband bring you to see me tomorrow. You can give me your answer then."

With a warm smile, Nathaniel turned and walked away.

Bonnie stood frozen in place for a long time, her mind an absolute mess.

She had originally wanted to study more of the formularies in the hall, but after Parrish's little stunt, she had entirely lost the mood.

Keeping her head down, she just wanted to find a quiet place to catch her breath.

She had barely stepped into the corridor when a tall, imposing shadow fell over her.

Quentin stood in front of her, his handsome face shrouded in a dark, brewing storm, his narrow black eyes turbulent.

He had just heard through the grapevine that Parrish had gone looking for her.

Now, seeing her red-rimmed eyes, an agonizing heaviness seized Quentin's chest, suffocating him.

She had cried. Because of Parrish York.

That realization pulled Quentin's lips into a cold, hard line, his entire aura radiating a terrifying chill.

Bonnie looked up and immediately crashed into those bottomless, pitch-black eyes. Flustered, she quickly lowered her head and scrubbed the back of her hand against her eyes.

"Can I... not go to his engagement party?"

Her voice was tiny, laced with exhaustion. She truly couldn't stomach the thought of looking at that man again.

Quentin stared at her, his gaze as cold as solid ice. "No."

His voice held zero warmth, causing Bonnie to flinch slightly.

Before she could react, Quentin had already wrapped an arm around her slender waist. "Let's go."

He steered her directly into the elevator.

As the doors slid shut, the heavy air conditioning inside the narrow space blasted over them, yet Bonnie found it incredibly hard to breathe.

She had promised Quentin she would use 'The Legacy Betrothal' to rub Parrish's nose in it. But now, she just felt utterly exhausted and thoroughly nauseated.

"Quentin..." she began, looking at him hesitantly.

Quentin threw a sidelong glance at her, the dark jealousy churning violently in his eyes.

"Bonnie."

His voice was dangerously low. "You need to remember your position right now. You are my wife."

That single sentence effectively killed whatever words she was about to say.

She bit her lip and finally bowed her head. Since she couldn't escape it, she at least had to maintain her dignity.

"I want to run to the restroom and touch up my makeup," she mumbled softly.

She knew she must look like a mess. Her eyes were red, and her makeup had likely smudged when she wiped away her tears.

The elevator chimed, and the doors slowly parted on the banquet hall floor.
