I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 254

On the massive bed, two figures were tangled together, half-hidden by the messy covers.

From his angle, he couldn't see Bonnie. All he saw was his boss's strikingly prominent shoulders and back, along with a chaotic scene that made it impossible to advance or retreat.

In his career, Jasper had dealt with car crashes, assassination attempts, corporate kidnappings, and even the time Quentin's temporary blindness almost gave a business partner a heart attack.

But at this moment, he experienced a rare second of absolute silence.

The next second, Jasper abruptly raised his hand, stopping the medical personnel from rushing in behind him.

"Everyone, halt! Non-essential personnel turn around and step out immediately. Lock down all entrances. Bring in the mobile medical screens and block the transport corridor completely."

He paused, adding with a deadpan expression, "Due to special circumstances, no one is to look directly at the bed area."

The highly trained medical team sprang into action.

Soon, folding privacy screens were rapidly deployed, creating a temporary white barrier from the bedroom door all the way to the stretcher, blocking out all prying eyes.

Two attending physicians backed into the room, keeping their eyes averted.

Jasper also turned his back, feeling his way to the edge of the bed. He grabbed the blanket and pulled it up, covering the two figures completely from shoulder to toe.

Once he confirmed they were thoroughly covered, he said in a low voice, "All clear."

The attending physicians immediately began emergency treatment.

After connecting the monitors, Quentin's vitals were dangerously erratic, and Bonnie's condition wasn't much better.

One of the doctors quickly noted the lingering smell from the dining area, glanced at their symptoms, and made a low-voiced assessment.

"Suspected wild mushroom poisoning, accompanied by hallucinations, cognitive impairment, and circulatory fluctuations."

Jasper's expression darkened. "Stabilize their vitals first. Establish an IV line immediately and prep them for transport."

The two doctors moved swiftly, hooking them both up to IVs and monitoring equipment.

However, when the doctors tried to separate the two for transport, their hands paused.

Jasper frowned. "What's wrong?"

The doctor looked at him awkwardly, lowering his voice to a whisper.

"Jasper, the situation... it's not feasible to separate them by force. Mr. Vance and the lady are holding on too tightly, and..."

Jasper glanced toward the bottom of the blanket and instantly understood, his normally stoic face stiffening for a second.

He never could have imagined that his famously ascetic boss would manage to orchestrate such a thrilling spectacle after getting poisoned.
