I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 81

"Oh, Mr. York, what brings you here?"

Dr. Zimmerman hurried over, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead.

He glanced at Parrish York's stormy expression, then at Bonnie Hayes's cold indifference, and scrambled to smooth things over.

"Mr. York, you've misunderstood. Bonnie is part of our logistics team now. She's doing us a massive favor today."

"We were supposed to have four people on logistics, but two called in sick with stomach bugs this morning. If Bonnie leaves too, our charity clinic will completely fall apart."

Dr. Zimmerman explained with an apologetic smile, continuously wiping his brow.

"Parrish!"

A sweet, feminine voice called out.

Seraphina Miller, wearing a pristine white lab coat, hurried over and naturally slipped her arm through Parrish's.

"Why did you come in person? Did you come all this way just to see my clinic?"

A sugary smile plastered her face, but her eyes swept over Bonnie with unmistakable provocation.

"It's too chaotic out here, and the logistics team hasn't even finished setting up. Let's go to the breakroom inside so you can get out of the sun."

Parrish looked down at Seraphina, the harshness in his eyes softening just a fraction.

Then, he turned his head and shot Bonnie a frigid, warning glare, as if guarding against a thief.

"Behave yourself. Don't try anything funny."

With that, he let Seraphina lead him away by the arm, turning his steps toward the back rooms.

Dr. Zimmerman watched them leave, sighing as a headache began to form.

He had heard rumors before and knew these three had a complicated history. He just thought young people these days were exhausting.

"Bonnie, just ignore them."

Dr. Zimmerman patted her shoulder, looking guilty. "You've really worked hard today. Once this rush is over, I'll approve some overtime pay for you."

"It's fine, Dr. Zimmerman. I'm going to get back to work."

Bonnie smiled, her eyes curving slightly as her expression returned to a calm mask.

She wasn't about to let irrelevant people ruin her mood.

The charity clinic officially began shortly after.

Clutching a stack of flyers, Bonnie wove through the different consultation stations, pouring water and guiding the elderly patients who had come to be seen.

All around her, the teasing voices of doctors and nurses filled the air.
