I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 82

Bonnie quickly set down her water pitcher. "Alright, I'm on my way."

She hurried across the lush courtyard. From a distance, she could hear the sound of things crashing in the eastern corridor.

"Get out! Get the hell out of here! I'm not sick! I don't need to see some quack doctor!"

A white-haired old man in a wheelchair, wearing a silk suit, was swearing up a storm.

Flyers were scattered all over the floor, alongside a heavily dented thermal mug.

Nearby, Caleb Jenkins, a tall, lanky young man in a logistics uniform, stood there looking completely helpless.

"Sir, we're really just doing routine check-ups..."

"Get lost! If you don't get the hell out of here, I'll beat you to a pulp with my cane, you little brat!"

The old man raised his cane, ready to strike.

Seeing this, Bonnie frowned and quickened her pace.

When Caleb turned and saw her, his eyes were red with frustration.

"Bonnie, I swear I've never met anyone so stubborn. I was just trying to help him up, and not only did he reject me, he threw his mug at me."

Bonnie patted him on the shoulder. "It's okay. I'll handle this. Go take a breather over there."

Caleb obediently stepped aside, though his eyes remained glued to Bonnie.

Bonnie walked up to the old man in the wheelchair and crouched down.

"What are you staring at? You think a little brat like you can scam me too?"

The old man glared at her with clouded eyes, his attitude downright vicious.

Bonnie wasn't angry. Instead, she offered a gentle smile and carefully observed his complexion.

His face looked ashen with an underlying grayish-black hue, and his lips and nail beds carried a faint purplish tint.

Bonnie sighed inwardly; his condition was serious.

"Sir, have you been feeling a tightness in your chest lately, like a heavy boulder is pressing down on you?"

The old man scoffed coldly. "I'm old. Who doesn't get chest tightness? Stop making a fuss over nothing!"

"And between three and five in the morning, do you wake up with a sharp, stabbing pain in your left shoulder and back? When you wake up, are you covered in a cold sweat, with freezing hands and feet?"

Bonnie continued, her tone confident and absolute.
