I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 91

Parrish stood rooted to the spot, his brows knitted tightly as he watched Bonnie's retreating figure.

Seraphina's skills were nothing but smoke and mirrors?

Hearing those words come from Bonnie's mouth sounded like jealousy, or perhaps bitter resentment.

As his thoughts drifted, Seraphina's voice pulled him back.

"Parrish."

She trotted over and naturally hooked her arm through his, her face full of concern.

"Why are you up? Didn't I tell you to rest on the lounge chair a little longer?"

Parrish withdrew his gaze, his tone flat. "I'm fine."

Seraphina's voice grew anxious. "Is Bonnie mad at me again?"

"Don't mind her." Parrish's voice turned a few degrees colder. "I'll make sure more people recognize your true capabilities."

"People with real talent don't need to tear others down to prove their worth. Only those drowning in their own insecurities can't stand to see others succeed."

Seraphina immediately caught his disdain for Bonnie. Triumphant joy swelled in her chest, though she expertly masked it with a wronged yet forgiving smile.

"Did she badmouth me again?"

"It's okay, Parrish. I don't care what others think of me, as long as you believe in me."

Seraphina sighed, looking up at him with a carefully crafted expression of hesitation.

"But really, I just don't understand where Bonnie gets her audacity."

"She dragged out your head trauma for three whole years, refusing to let you see actual specialists, and nearly left you permanently brain-damaged."

"The fact that you haven't pressed charges shows how much you value your past relationship. Yet she has the nerve to turn around and blame you... I just feel so bad for you."

Parrish's eyes darkened. For some reason, he had absolutely zero desire to continue this conversation.

He simply said, "Let's go. The clinic is over, so I'll take you home."

...

Meanwhile, at Riverstone Heights.

Quentin Vance stood by the floor-to-ceiling window. His long fingers twirled his phone, his chiseled features looking exceptionally cold in the dim lighting.

On the other end of the line, Sterling Lennox's voice was practically dripping with a highly punchable smugness.

"Don't say I never look out for your wife."

"I deliberately hired an actor today so your wife could show off her skills in front of Master Thorne. And guess what? Your wife's guard was so high, she took one look and walked away. She didn't fall for it at all!"

"Tsk. The spotlight just ended up falling right into the lap of Mr. York's precious sweetheart."

"With all those phones recording, once the footage is chopped up and leaked, it'll look like Seraphina stabilized the patient, while your wife ended up scaring the old man away."

Listening to him, Quentin's brows pulled together, a layer of frost settling over his features. His voice was as cold as ice.
