I Stopped Waiting and Started Loving novel Chapter 92

"It was late last weekend, around eleven at night."

Jasmine blinked, suddenly leaning in with obvious excitement.

"Bonnie, do you have some billionaire chasing after you? Who else would spend that much money to dig into your past?"

Bonnie pressed her lips together, a myriad of emotions flashing across her face.

Last weekend at 11:00 PM.

That was right around the time Jasper Ford had bailed her out of the police station.

The only person who could track down Jasmine right at that exact moment and interrogate her about Parrish York was Jasper. There was no other suspect.

"What exactly did you tell him?" Bonnie demanded, staring her down.

Jasmine spilled everything. "He just asked how far you and Parrish actually went, and demanded every single detail. My brain short-circuited, and I told him everything I knew..."

"Including the fact that Parrish suffers from... performance issues in the bedroom."

Bonnie: "..."

Seeing the look on her face, Jasmine knew she was furious and scrambled to explain.

"I was just trying to protect you! He was being so incredibly blunt, literally asking if you two had ever slept together! I was terrified this billionaire would assume the worst, think you weren't pure, and just dump you!"

"So I blurted it out! I exposed Parrish's bedroom issues!"

"I even emphasized that you two were together for five years without doing so much as touching! I made sure he knew you were completely untouched!"

"And honestly, when the guy heard that, he actually sounded pretty satisfied. He sent the money over immediately after."

Bonnie massaged her temples, completely at a loss for words.

No wonder Quentin had told her to get lost that night, only to abruptly change his mind and let her stay.

If Jasper hadn't intervened and played middleman, she definitely would have lost her job.

Thinking about this, her anger subsided slightly, replaced by a renewed sense of gratitude toward Jasper.

Bonnie reached out and picked up the envelope. "Didn't you say it was fifty grand? Where's the other twenty?"

Jasmine twisted her fingers together awkwardly. "That twenty grand... Curtis took it to trade stocks. He swore he'd double it in a few days and pay you back."

Bonnie's brow furrowed deeply. "He's trading stocks again? Does he have any idea how much money he's already burned through? When is he going to learn his lesson?"

Jasmine looked incredibly guilty, her voice dropping to a whisper.

"It's different this time, Bonnie... Curtis said Mr. York personally gave him a stock tip. He's absolutely certain he'll make back everything he lost."

Bonnie didn't say anything else. She slipped the manila envelope into her bag.
