Chapter 5
I took a deep breath, fighting back tears with everything I had.
After that day, I desperately sought out Patrick several more times, but he’d found a younger plaything and had no time for me.
Nash attempted various ways to get money to me, but I rejected them all.
Eight years ago, I hated Nash with a bone-deep loathing that consumed me.
But time passed too quickly, and I began to forget him and all the memories he brought with him.
So when we met again after seven years, I felt surprisingly little turmoil.
My greatest emotional shock in recent days was hearing Nash say:
“After all, you were my first love, weren’t you?”
It nauseated me.
If Nash’s previous actions were about avenging Freya Wilcox, now he was simply, purely rotten to his core.
I began deliberately avoiding him.
Until the day Julian developed a high fever at home, I suppressed my panic and rushed downstairs carrying my son.
There, standing outside our building, was Nash.
He froze when he saw Julian in my arms because Julian looked exactly like him.
At the hospital, I witnessed genuine remorse on Nash’s face for the first time.
After that, he inserted himself into our lives without restraint.
He bought Julian countless clothes and school supplies, and began driving him to and from school every day.
This gave me more time to care for my mother at the hospital.
Perhaps because of their blood connection, Julian quickly grew attached to this sudden “uncle” in his life.
Thinking about it carefully, I realized I didn’t entirely object to Nash’s attention toward Julian.
After all, everything he did for Julian was rightfully deserved.
As for me, I simply needed to tolerate his presence and nurture his guilt, then use it to my advantage.
Julian’s future required planning, so Nash and I “peacefully” coexisted for half a month.
Until he brought me to an expensive villa.
“There are excellent schools nearby, and hospitals too.”
“So?”

Chapter 5
Nash’s voice carried a trace of nervousness: “If you like it, I’ll transfer the property to your name immediately.”
I looked at him calmly: “Nash, you’re engaged. Are you planning to keep a mistress?”
Nash hastily shook his head: Tve broken off my engagement with Riley. I’m single now.”
“And… Julian is my son. This is the least I should do.”
The villa was tempting, but I calmly refused.
Based on my understanding of Nash, pushing him away would only intensify his guilt.
Sure enough
After my firm rejection, Nash fell to his knees before me.
The sound of his knees hitting the ground echoed in the quiet air.
He looked up, face streaked with tears, his voice like a wounded beast’s whimper.
“Sienna, I’m sorry… I’m so sorry.”
“I just want to make amends to you and our son.”
“As for your mother… I can bring in the best specialists from abroad to give her the finest care.”
I laughed softly, lifting his chin: “What about Freya Wilcox? Aren’t you avenging her anymore?”
He clung to my legs, refusing to let go: “Freya Wilcox… I only sympathized with her tragic circumstances! Sienna, my love for you back then
wasn’t fake.”
I laughed internally, finally seeing Nash Reed clearly.
He wasn’t seeking revenge for anyone, nor was he some champion of love.
