Chapter 7 I’m Done With This Trashy Husband!

The bright red blood on Nevin’s fingers was shocking. Its sticky warmth made Nevin’s breath catch for a few seconds.
His reaction startled Orion.
At six years old, he already knew what death meant. His small face went pale as he asked, “Dad, is Mom going to die?”
“Shut up!”
The moment Nevin heard that word–die–his face darkened. He barked the words without thinking, his deep eyes full of cold fury.
Orion flinched and backed away, pressing himself against Rhea.
“Rhea…” His voice trembled.
His dad had never yelled at him before.
Rhea opened her mouth, wanting to tell Nevin not to be so harsh.
But when she saw the icy look on his face, she didn’t dare.
Instead, she gently patted Orion’s head to comfort him. Rhea’s eyes flicked toward the emergency room light with a mix of fear and hate.
Why is Demi bleeding?
Is she pregnant again?
For years, Rhea had worked quietly to take Demi’s place beside Nevin.
She’d done everything she could to make Demi misunderstand, to make her believe Nevin and she were already together. And every time she stirred up trouble, Nevin had taken her side.
Rhea thought Nevin was already sick of that boring old wife.
But now–looking at his face, tense and filled with worry, his gaze locked on the emergency room door, too afraid to blink–Rhea’s heart twisted with jealousy.
Her eyes narrowed on the bloodstain on his suit.
How could Demi be pregnant at such a critical time?
No. Even if Demi is carrying a child, I wouldn’t let that baby be born.
Nevin is mine!
And the spot beside him is mine too!

Nevin’s eyes flicked toward the glowing light above the emergency room every few seconds.
As the minutes dragged on, his heart sank lower and lower.
The last time he had felt this kind of fear was six years ago, when Demi was in labor with Orion.
Wait a minute!

He rubbed the dried blood between his fingers and suddenly remembered the past few days–Demi’s nausea, her vomiting, and her pale face.
Those were the same symptoms she had when she was pregnant with Orion.
Time crawled by.
Just when Nevin was about to lose his patience, the red light finally went out.
The doors swung open.
Nurses pushed Demi out on a stretcher.
“Demi!”
Nevin immediately strode over, his long legs closing the distance in seconds.
Demi’s face was ghastly white. She looked weak and completely uninterested in seeing him. Her eyes barely met his before she turned her head away.
“Doctor,” Nevin said quickly, “my wife–how is she?”
“The patient…” The doctor hesitated, catching Demi’s pleading look. He frowned and said curtly, “Her condition’s not great, but she’s not in danger. As her husband, you’d better pay attention to what triggers her allergies.”
Without another word, the doctor shoved his hands into his pockets and walked off.
A nurse continued to wheel Demi down the hall.
Nevin followed them all the way to the hospital room. When he saw Demi lying there with her eyes shut, refusing to speak with him, Nevin stood in silence for a moment before finally asking. “Are you pregnant again?”
He reached out, showing the dried red stain on his fingertip.
Demi opened her eyes and met his furrowed gaze.
Nevin waited for what felt like forever, only to hear Demi’s flat, emotionless reply. “No,” she said flatly.
His frown deepened. “Then what’s with the blood?”
“Period,” she said curtly.
Her tone carried no warmth. The allergic reaction had left her feeling dizzy and drained, every inch of her

body uncomfortable. And Nevin wouldn’t stop pressing. He just kept asking, over and over. This man was so annoying.
Where was all this concern before?
Demi gave a cold laugh, turned on her side, and faced away from Nevin. She thought he’d get the hint and stop asking questions.
But he didn’t. He walked to the other side of the bed. “So it’s just your period? Then what about all the nausea and vomiting these past few days?”
Demi closed her eyes, pretending not to hear him.
Nevin leaned down, trying to pick her up. “I’m taking you for a pregnancy test—”
“Nevin Blackwell!”
Demi shoved him hard, her voice trembling with anger. “Do you have to push me until I break?!”
“Mr. Blackwell,” Rhea’s voice suddenly came from the doorway. “Demi’s probably just on her period. Her mood’s been unstable because of that.”
She and Orion had been eavesdropping for a while. When she heard Nevin mention a pregnancy test, she couldn’t hold back any longer and came in with Orion.
Rhea was sure Demi wasn’t pregnant.
If she were, she would’ve rushed to get checked the second she found out, especially considering how hard she’s clung to Nevin all these years.
She didn’t know what Demi was trying to pull this time, but she was happy to watch it unfold.
With Rhea’s words soothing his doubts, Nevin didn’t push further.
So all that nausea and vomiting had been an act?
And when he offered to take her for a test, she had cold feet because she knew she wasn’t pregnant?
Nevin’s expression grew colder by the second. He was completely out of patience.
“If you’re fine,” he snapped, “then pack up and get discharged. I don’t have time to waste in this hospital.”
“Sir, your wife shouldn’t leave yet–she needs to stay for observation,” the nurse quickly intervened.
Before the nurse could say more, Demi shook her head and gave a faint smile. “It’s okay. I can rest at
home.”
She turned to the nurse with quiet gratitude. Her face was as pale as snow, and even her forced smile carried a kind of fragile beauty that made people ache to look at her.
Demi changed back into her clothes and walked toward the door. Nevin was already several feet ahead, not bothering to wait for her.
