Chapter 38
Chapter 38
My suitcase was by the door. I was done
The door burst open before i could leave Serena swept in, heels clicking, eyes glittering with malice.
“Think you’re special because of their DNA?” she sneered. “They love me. You’re taking my place for a billion? Once I’m Mrs. Aaron/Cooke, I’ll have
more than that. Our families united will be untouchable”
She leaned in, her voice a venomous whisper. “And you’re walking into another hell. The Elliott men are beasts. You might not last a week. you
die, that money rots with you.”
Something inside me shattered.
My hand moved. The slap cracked through the room.
A cold smile touched my lips. “Then I hope you get what you deserve.”
She staggered, hand to her cheek, shocked. “You hit me?”
I hit her again, harder. Blood welled at the corner of her mouth.
The door flew open. Aaron stood there, rage transforming his face. “LOUISA! Have you lost your mind?!” He rushed to Serena, wiping the blood from her lip with terrifying tenderness.
Then he turned and struck me. The force snapped my head to the side. I tasted blood.
I slowly righted myself and smiled coldly. “Remember this moment, Aaron,”
My parents rushed in, flanking Serena protectively. “You vile girl!” my father spat.
Serena buried her face in Aaron’s shirt, her voice trembling. “It’s my fault… I’ll leave… I just want her to be happy…”
It was the final catalyst. Aaron looked at me with pure disgust. “Guards!” Two men appeared. “String her up from the old oak. Upside down. Let the sun bake the poison out of her.”
