Chapter 257
The moment Stella got back to Mount Lara, she received a text from an unknown number.
It contained only a few words.
Being in there is the safest place for you.
The second she read it, she let out a mocking laugh.
She did not even need to call the number back to know exactly who had sent it.
Gray was following behind her. When he heard her suddenly laugh, he asked instinctively, “What are you laughing at, miss?”
“See for yourself.”
Stella handed him the phone.
Gray glanced at the message and instantly looked speechless.
“This…”
Then he sighed. “This was from Mr. Wright, wasn’t it?”
“Who else but that idiot?” Stella said coldly. “Did you send him the divorce papers?”
Gray nodded. “Don’t worry. Someone already delivered them. Unless something unexpected happened, Mr. Wright should have seen them by now.”
Stella gave a small nod.
At this point, she was honestly exhausted from all the back and forth over the divorce.
What she had not expected was that Summer would really be ruthless enough to sacrifice her own child.
Women like that had existed throughout history, sure.
But the Wright family was not exactly some royalty.
She had sacrificed her own daughter over money?
A woman like that…
The Wright family could keep her. They better hang onto her tight and not let her loose on anyone else.
Stella lay back on the couch.
A maid immediately came over and draped a blanket across her.
Back on her own turf, Stella finally felt herself relax.
Then she took Gray’s phone and called Dora.
The line connected quickly. Dora’s tired voice came through.
“Hello?”

Just from the sound of it, Stella could tell that Summer had been wearing her down badly these past few days.
And yet even so, Dora still treated Summer like some kind of treasure.
What could you do?
Some people were just like that.
The quieter and more decent someone was, the less they appreciated them. But the moment someone made their life miserable, suddenly that person became precious.
Stella said, “It’s me.”
“Stella Rowan?” Dora exploded the second she recognized her voice. “I’m telling you right now, we’ve already called the police. Just wait and see. You’re going to prison.”
And she still had the nerve to call.
The instant Dora heard her voice, her anger surged again.
She was the mother in law, yet she had been hit by her own daughter in law.
If word of that got out, where was she supposed to put her face?
Stella said coolly, “Whether I go to prison or not, I don’t know. But there’s one thing I need to confirm.”
“What?” Dora bit out through clenched teeth.
Stella said, “I hit you today. So you’ll be doing everything in your power to make Evan divorce me now, right?”
The way she said it was enough to make someone choke on rage.
Dora was already furious over being hit.
And now Stella had the nerve to bring it up herself.
Dora had not even had the chance to settle that score yet, and Stellà had delivered herself right to her.
“You… you…” Dora was shaking with rage. “I’m telling you, you just wait. You’re going to rot in prison.”
At this point, Dora had truly lost it.
The only reason she had not tried to settle things with Stella separately was because she wanted Stella to pay for everything all at once, especially the baby’s death.
The child was dead.
And Stella was going to pay dearly for it.
