Chapter 308
On the other end of the call, Evan was so furious it felt like his head might burst.
This version of Stella was completely unfamiliar to him. She still sounded calm, even gentle-but there was something sharp underneath it now. Something ruthless.
The words ‘divorce’ were right there, almost spilling out of his mouth.
“You just admitted it. You were on a date with Felix!” he snapped through clenched teeth.
His breathing had already gone uneven.
“And what’s wrong with that?” Stella replied.
“What’s wrong with that?” Evan almost laughed from anger. “Stella, you-”
“I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
Evan went silent.
His head really did feel like it was about to explode.
Nothing wrong?
That was a huge problem.
His voice came out strained. “Are you blind or just pretending to be? Can’t you see what Felix feels for you?”
“You’ve been married before. The way he’s protecting/you-don’t you think that’s a problem?”
“If you won’t protect me,” Stella said calmly, “are you saying no one else is allowed to?”
Evan froze.
The silence on the line turned heavy again.
He felt like everything he believed in was being torn apart.
What he didn’t realize was-
Their positions had simply switched.
Every word she was saying to him now… he had once said to her.
Every single one.
“Anything else?” Stella asked.
Anything else?
Was there even anything left to say?
No matter what he said, she had an answer ready. An answer that made no sense to him.
“If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.
r
These days, his calls would go through–but whether she picked up was entirely up to her.
“Where are you?” he demanded suddenly. “Why aren’t you back at Mount Lara?”
“I’ll go back when it’s time.
When that time came-
The entire Wright family… including him-
would wish she had never come back at all.
Stella hung up with a faint smile.
And that last trace of laughter through the phone made Evan’s skin crawl.
Yes-
crawl.
There was something deeply unsettling about it.
Dora and Fiona went to the Hernandez family estate, hoping to meet Felix’s parents.
They didn’t even make it past the gate.
Security stopped them and told them to wait outside while they reported it inside.
Not being immediately let in made Dora’s expression/darken.
“What kind of household makes guests wait at the gate like this?”
If they treated everyone this way, fine.
But the Wright and Felix families were equals in status.
And yet here she was, made to stand outside like this.
Dora was so angry she almost turned and left.
す
But Fiona quickly grabbed her arm. “Mom, maybe the security just doesn’t recognize us. Let’s wait.”
“Wait?” Dora snapped. “That’s lowering ourselves.”
But looking at Fiona’s anxious expression, she knew.
Her daughter really liked Felix.
Still… hadn’t she refused to go back to Felix Corporation after being humiliated before?
