Sarah paused, a bit uncertain. “I’m not sure that’s the best idea. Ryan’s side would probably be fine since you’re the bride, so you could have the wedding wherever you want.

“But Elaine is joining our family. If the wedding is held in Betrico, would she and Ethan be okay with that?”

Nina smiled softly, “I only planned to have the wedding in Riverdale because you were here. Now that you’re coming with me to Betrico, there’s no need to make things complicated.

“As for Elaine and Ethan, Elaine actually mentioned before that she’d like to have the wedding in Betrico.”

Nina wasn’t just saying this to make Sarah feel better.

Elaine really had brought it up.

Sarah smiled, “Alright, then let’s do it your way. I’ll go along with whatever you decide.”

Nina nodded, and then they started chatting about this and that.

After a while, Nina glanced at Sarah and pressed her lips together. “Grandma, could you tell me about you and Grandpa?”

Sarah paused, a little surprised. “Why are you suddenly interested in hearing about your grandpa and me?”

Just then, Anna had a servant bring in a plate of fruit.

Nina picked up a piece of fruit with a toothpick and handed it to Sarah. “Tomorrow’s Grandpa’s memorial day. I don’t know why, but I just really want to hear what things were like between you two.”

Nina’s eyes shimmered, and her voice grew a little more serious. “I didn’t get to spend much time with Grandpa, but I remember he was always gentle. He never once raised his voice at you.

“All these years, you’ve said he treated you so well, but I never really knew what that kind of love looked like. Now that Ryan and I have made it official, I just wonder if he’ll ever cherish me the way Grandpa cherished you.”

Sarah affectionately tapped Nina’s nose. “Oh, you. Everyone can see how much Ryan cares about you. I promise, he’ll treat you even better than your grandpa ever did.”

“Back then, he was just a poor guy, barely making ends meet as a doctor, while I was the spoiled daughter of a rich family

Sarah suddenly laughed, “Don’t let his poverty fool you. He had quite a reputation. The reason he was always broke was that he gave away everything he earned to help others.

“That year, my mom was seriously ill, and we’d tried every doctor we could find. Then someone told us about Samuel from Silken Village, saying his medical skills were really something. So I went to see him, hoping he could help.

“That was the first time I really saw the gap between rich and poor. Your grandpa’s home was so bare, you could literally say it was just walls and nothing else.”

Sarah was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her family sheltered her from everything, and she was good at everything, like music, chess, calligraphy, and painting.

The people around her were all from high society. The first time she saw Samuel’s place, she couldn’t get over the shock for a while.

Samuel’s parents had passed away when he was young, and as the eldest, he had to take care of his younger siblings.

Even though his family was dirt poor, he just couldn’t stand seeing others in pain. He’d always end up giving away most of what he earned just to help others out.

Honestly, Sarah couldn’t wrap her head around it. ‘Life’s tough for everyone. Why go out of your way to make it even harder for yourself just to help someone else?‘ she thought.

But even so, she couldn’t help but be moved by Samuel’s kindness.

She asked Samuel to treat her mother and paid him double what he usually charged.

After that, she didn’t see Samuel again for a while.

But one day, she spotted Samuel on the street, caught up in a scuffle with some thugs.

Those thugs were trying to drag a girl away.

Samuel was just a doctor. He didn’t stand a chance against them. It only took a moment for them to knock him down and leave him badly beaten.

Sarah couldn’t just watch, so she stepped in to stop them.

Her family had some influence, so the thugs didn’t dare lay a finger on her. They just dragged the girl away and left.

Sarah wanted to help the girl, but she only had one attendant with her. There was no way she could take on that many thugs

And with Samuel knocked out cold, all she could do was bring him to the medical hall for treatment.

When Samuel came to, he didn’t even care about his own injuries. He just wanted to go save the girl
