Nigel glanced in the rearview mirror and said, "Fine, I'll just back up then."
"Get out of the way!" Logan gave him a look that said he was dismissed.
Nigel whistled and said, "Hope you win her heart soon!"
He drove away at a moderate speed, sticking his head out the window to look at Lisa. "Hey, Lisa, do you remember me?"
Lisa rolled her eyes. He obviously knew who she was but still decided to tease her.
That was just how he was. He and Logan were best friends, so technically she should regard him respectfully as "Mr. Woods". But he was not into those formalities and even called her by name.
"See you, Nigel!" She didn't mind his teasing.
"Go have a blast! Don't let your uncle's kindness go to waste." He was being quite the blabbermouth.
Lisa hadn't heard their earlier conversation and didn't understand what he meant. But she nodded anyway and waved goodbye as he drove away.
After he drove away, Logan walked over to her. A layer of snow had already settled on her hat and scarf. He reached up to gently brush it off. "Are you cold?"
"Not at all. I'm actually sweating," she said, having worked up a sweat from running and spinning around.
"Easy does it, or you'll catch a cold." Logan said, looking at her flushed face. His hand unconsciously came to rest on her cheek.
The cool touch made her shiver, and she involuntarily took a step back.
The mood turned awkward in an instant.
Lisa noticed his expression stiffen slightly, and only then did she realize she had overreacted. "It's just too cold," she quickly explained.
He withdrew his hand, slipping it into his pocket. "Let me draw something for you."
If he hadn't mentioned it, she would have almost forgotten that he was a skilled artist. Back in school, he would help her with the illustrations for her handwritten posters, and she would just fill in the text.
She obeyed, and with a click, he took a photo. Then he walked back to her and handed her the phone.
The photo showed her standing at the peak of a snowy mountain, gazing up at the sky.
But she had been standing on the road. He had used his fingers to draw mountains and placed her at the summit.
"Uncle Logan, this looks so real. I had no idea your skills improved so much these past few years," Lisa exclaimed, impressed.
He looked at her with an unfathomable depth in his eyes.
Logan's eyes seemed to hold a deep meaning as he looked at her. "I had a lot of time alone abroad, so I've been drawing a ton to pass the time."
"So, what did you draw while you were there?" she asked curiously.
His lips moved, and he said, "...You."
