Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 949

Although I had a tough time being pregnant for ten months, Brandon didn't have it easy either.

I called Lisa while he was in the shower. "Don't be impulsive! Xander is a good guy. Don't hurt him."

"Maddie, you're so protective of him. I haven't even done anything yet, and you're already worried I'll hurt him. Why aren't you worried about me falling for him instead?" She voiced her displeasure.

I recalled what Brandon had said. "There's someone else you're into, but you won't own up to it. Let's face it—you won't fall for Xander."

"Well, call me heartless then! I can just turn off my feelings," she said, never one to hold back from poking fun at herself.

"Liz..."

"Don't try to talk me out of it. I've made up my mind unless Xander says no." She spoke with unwavering determination.

"What if he doesn't want to?" I asked her.

She chuckled. "They say frogs with three legs are mythical creatures, but men? They're a dime a dozen! If he says no, I'll just go on a dating spree and find someone else.

"Alright, that's enough. I'd better get packing," she said before hanging up.

Thinking about Lisa's determination to make Logan give up hope, I had no choice but to call Xander. After I explained everything, he burst into laughter.

"Really? That's great news!"

I was exasperated. He sounded like he had just won the lottery.

"Okay, I could use a girlfriend. Let's see how this goes. Maybe we can make it work for real," he agreed readily.

"Mr. Roulder, I'm dead serious. This isn't a joke," I warned him.

"I'm serious too. Give me her number. Just send me Lisa's WhatsApp. I'm going to hit her up right now."

She quickly came up with an excuse. "I... have to go on a business trip."

"A business trip? What kind of business trip does a doctor need to go on?" Martha's tone made it obvious that she held little regard for her position as a gynecologist.

Lisa forced a smile. "I'm going to head up a global women's advocacy group."

Martha knew she was being sarcastic and shot her a disapproving look. "Since your uncle isn't here, I can talk to you instead."

Lisa felt a chill run down her spine. "You should go to him directly. Don't involve me."

"You're always with him, so I'll ask you."

She was filled with dread after hearing Martha's words. Surely he hadn't told Martha what he had said to her? "Mom..."

"Sit down," Martha said as she sat on the couch. "He said he wants to break ties because of someone he likes. Now, you tell me, who is it?"
