Lisa recognized the voice without turning around, having just heard it last night.

"Hi, Aunt Joelle." She greeted Joelle, who was walking toward her with a delighted expression.

"No way! It's you!" Joelle looked at Xander. "Oh, so you're Lisa's boyfriend, Xander?"

Xander raised an eyebrow. "How come she calls you Aunt Joelle?"

Joelle blushed slightly, and Lisa explained, "She's my uncle's girlfriend."

"What a coincidence! Looks like we're about to become even more closely related." He was getting quite into the act.

Lisa hadn't expected to run into Joelle here. Luckily, her relationship with Xander was just a ruse. Otherwise, things could have gotten complicated. Joelle was both her uncle's girlfriend and Xander's cousin.

"My boyfriend will be here soon, and I'm waiting for him." Joelle's words gave Lisa a headache.

Why did she keep running into Logan everywhere she went? It seemed like she couldn't escape him.

"You wait here. We'll go in first," Xander said, wrapping his arm around her.

"How did Joelle become your cousin? Which side of the family?" Lisa felt like the world's population of billions had suddenly become so small.

"You'll have to ask my uncle about that. She's my uncle's daughter." He spoke with his usual laid-back attitude.

"Your uncle... do you still..." He had barely asked when she twisted her body and shook off the arm he had around her.

He sensed her discomfort and quickly changed the subject. "Just treat them like normal people, okay? And don't mess up our act later. If my grandpa finds out I got a fake girlfriend to appease him, his birthday party could turn into a funeral."

She smacked him playfully. "What are you talking about? Don't say such unlucky things!"

Xander chuckled. "You're really getting into the character of a perfect granddaughter-in-law."

Joelle linked her arm through Logan's and went over. They exchanged greetings before taking their seats. Coincidentally, their seats were directly across from Lisa and Xander.

"Liz, here's a little something from me to you, since this is our first time meeting." Eleanor employed the same method, presenting something to Lisa.

She was about to decline, but Eleanor held her back. "This is the Roulders' heirloom bracelet, a symbol of the lady of the house. Since Xander's the only one in his line, it's only right that you inherit it."

Lisa was quite distressed. She couldn't accept the gift.

"I heard from Xander that you're a doctor, specializing in obstetrics?" Eleanor asked with a smile.

"Yes, Mrs. Roulder Senior. I'm an obstetrician," Lisa replied.

Eleanor's face lit up even more. "Oh, this is wonderful! It's as if the stars have aligned for the Roulders. With a specialist like you in our family, the Roulders will thrive and grow for generations."
