It was impossible, Lisa thought. Despite feeling uncomfortable, she wouldn't cry over it.
Just then, a passerby said, "It's snowing."
Lisa quickly looked up at the night sky. Indeed, snowflakes were drifting down, one after another…
"It's snowing, Uncle Logan! It's snowing!" The joy of the first snow made her forget the discomfort she had been feeling.
Logan responded with a simple, "Yeah, it's snowing."
"This is the first snow," Lisa said, her hand grasping his arm, shaking it gently.
"Uncle Logan, don't you remember? Wishes made on the first snow always come true." Lisa, under the influence of alcohol, suddenly became like a carefree teenager again.
"Then make a wish." He played along.
She shook his arm again. "Let's make a wish together, okay? It'll be more fun."
What should she wish for?
But then she couldn't think of what to say next.
"Then I wish you won't be able to marry Joelle," she suddenly blurted out.
"What?" He stared into her eyes.
Lisa met his gaze. "Didn't you say I couldn't compete with Joelle? So let Cupid keep you two apart so I can swoop in and steal you away."
"Why do you want to steal me away?" Logan probed further.
Lisa's lips, glossed from her makeup, shimmered under the streetlight. A snowflake happened to fall on them, melting instantly from the warmth, leaving a glistening droplet. The sight was quite captivating.
Logan cleared his throat. Seeing she wasn't answering, he pressed more firmly. "Yes?"
"Using snow to feign growing old together is nothing more than an excuse for the heartless." He scoffed lightly.
"That's not true," Lisa disagreed.
Logan naturally wouldn't argue with her. As the poem said, having her by his side right now was enough.
"Uncle Logan, spin around," Lisa suddenly said, tugging on him.
He knew what she wanted to do. She had really had a lot to drink, and her thoughts were jumping all over the place.
But whatever she wanted, he would give her.
Logan carried her and began spinning in circles. Amidst the swirling snow, her laughter was infectious, making the snowflakes seem to dance with joy.
When he got tired, he finally stopped. As he caught his breath, Lisa suddenly said, "Logan, I really don't want to give you up to anyone else, but I also can't be with you. What should I do?"
