Luna's Deadly Deception: How She Made Her Alpha Pay novel Chapter 52

Once I was given the okay by the doctor, I left my bed and sought to find the leader of the intelligence team, Jane. I still hadn’t done what I’d been aiming to do.

Finding Magnus.

With her help, we were able to track Magnus’s trail to the edge of the forest region that oversaw of the pack.

Taking the team with me, we headed there. a part of me desperate to see what had become of Jake.

My breath hitched as we watched him using the drone we had deployed into the forest. Magnus. After all this time.

"I want that shipment now, or you’ll have hell to pay." He screamed into his phone before letting out a scoff.

My heart paused when I saw some rogues come up to him and he gave them orders. He was working with them—no—he was their leader.

"What the hell." Jane had a look of disgust on her face as she watched him.

That wasn’t the only thing that had changed about him. In such a short period of time, he’d gone from being the Alpha of the pack that usually donned on the highest quality suits to a big-belied, chubby, middle-aged looking man.

The fact that he walked around the forest without a shirt too said a lot. I couldn’t help the disgust that ran through me.

It made me sick to my stomach the longer I continued to watch the video. This was the man I’d been married to for five whole years.

"We have to be extremely discreet about this." I said to Jane who listened attentively to me.

She nodded her head and put the mask over her nose and mouth. I did the same with mine and we slowly inched closer to the building that served as a cover for us.

So far so good, we’d managed to infiltrate Magnus’s little neighbourhood. No one had sighed us just yet so I took that as a good sign to keep moving forward.

"Keep your senses on alert. We can’t let anyone find out we’re here." I said to Jane.

Jane didn’t look all too pleased by that. "But that shouldn’t be of importance."

"Again with this Jane." I said exasperatedly.

"No, but if you’d just think about it," she insisted. "Why bother with those abilities when technology is here to make everything so easy for us?"

I rolled my eyes for what must have been the umpteenth time that day. Jane was obsessed with modern technology and the endless possibilities it laid out for her.

Magnus.

He was coming back home from a territory of the tour. We’d been carefully monitoring his movements and had calculated that he’d be back now.

"Now." I whispered to Jane.

She nodded her head and brought out two spray cans from her bag. The formula had been developed by Jane to successfully mask our scents and leave us undetectable to the average wolf/

As soon as I was done spraying, I gestured for Jane with a nod. Being as stealthy as we good, we slowly snuck into Magnus’s home while the door was still open.

It was a cabin style house with very little furnishing. Littering the place were beer bottles of different brands. The whole place was…unkempt. There was a half-eaten slice of pizza on the table just facing the small television.

"This is disgusting." Jane mumbled under her breath, her face twisted into a grimace.

I put a finger on my lip, gesturing for her to remain quiet. We moved to another corner of the house, trying to find where Magnus would be.

Even inching close to the wall sent a chill down my spine. Magnus had gotten all that money and yet he still lived in this dump.
