When the nanny came into view, I let out a sigh. I sent Askhan a playful wink before pushing him away. "A lot of things happened on the plane."
His eyes were still clouded with lust and desire as I waved him goodbye. I hadn't missed the hard on he'd tried to hide. He'd have to relieve himself somehow but that wasn't by problem now.
I went over to them, excited to finally see my baby girl after so long. As soon as she saw me, her smile brightened.
"Mommy." She squealed excitedly before throwing herself into my arms. "Where did you go mommy? I missed you so much."
"I missed you too, baby." I grinned.
A part of me hesitated to tell her the truth. Emma was a smart girl. She would catch on even if I tried to deflect.
"Did you go to divorce that bad guy in the presence of the moon god?"
I nodded. "Yes."
She nodded her head lightly before patting me on the cheek. "It's okay, mommy."
It felt comical that she was the one comforting me. I blinked away the tears that fought their wa to the surface.
I turned back to see Quentin making his way towards us. "Hello Emma."
Emma simply stared at him for a while. I wanted to remind her to reply to his greeting but she finally looked away.
"Hey mommy." She called out.
"Yes?" I answered.
Her voice was barely above a whisper now. "This uncle is so handsome!"
If the ground could just open up and swallow me, I'd actually be incredibly thankful for that. Quentin had an amused look in his eyes before slowly smiling.
Emma was oblivious to the fact that I was dying of embarrassment. Her only focus was the handsome uncle in the person of Quentin.
"Emma." I whispered to her but she didn't look like she cared.
To his credit, Quentin didn't make light of the situation, simply sending her a warm smile.
"Thank you for the compliment, Emma." He smiled. "You're a really beautiful girl too. Just like your mommy."
I felt the flutters in my stomach at his words. Emma let out an excited squeal, her face beaming with the happiness she felt.
"You think so?" she asked.
"Oh definitely," Quentin nodded, the smile never leaving his face. "You have beautiful blonde hair, just like mommy."
Quentin's gaze flicked to me, his eyes burning with an intensity that left me unable to think properly.
I nodded. "We will."
With that, I turned away and made my way into Askhan's car. He took the seat just beside us and gestured for the driver to get going.
"Yes sir." The driver nodded his head before revving up the engine. He slowly reversed the car out of its parking space before driving out of the hanger.
My gaze remained fixed on the window, watching all the scenery pass me in a blur. After a while, I noticed we weren't taking the normal path home.
"Aren't we heading home?" I asked Askhan.
He didn't reply, simply sending me a smile. When the car took a turn towards the palace gates, I realized what he had done. The tall buildings of Alpha Palace loomed over us like an omen. The guards opened the gates and the car slowly drove in.
"Wow." Emma stared in awe, pressing her face against the window.
"Welcome to the Alpha Palace." Askhan smiled.
I allowed myself to take in the sight of the place. The tall buildings were perched atop a hill that overlooked the sprawling city below.
It looked like it had been constructed from pale marble and shimmering gold, the walls of the palace reflecting the light and power of the ruling dynasty.
"This isn't the Alpha Palace I got to see on the news." Emma said excitedly, her tail wagging side to side as she continued to stare out the window.
Askhan grinned. "Wait till you see the inside."
