Luna's Deadly Deception: How She Made Her Alpha Pay novel Chapter 81

The guards let the car pass through the gates when they saw who owned it. I sat back, making a point not to look at Quentin as the car drove past many buildings that marked his multimillion enterprise.

Eventually, the car stopped in front of the highest office building among all the rest. Quentin turned to look at me, an eager look in his eyes.

"This is our stop." He said calmly.

I slowly nodded my head, taking in the view of the whole place. Without warning, Quentin reached for my hand and lead me out through his side of the door.

Claire got down not long after we did. When her eyes landed on our intertwined hands, her cheeks flared up even more.

Judging by the look of pure anger burning behind her eyes, it was obvious there was a lot she wanted to say, a plethora of things she would have gladly passed over if Quentin wasn’t here.

I smiled coyly, relishing in the thought that this was infuriating. There was no doubt about the fact that she hated it, the sight of me and Quentin holding hands in such an intimate way. I had no qualms about letting him hold my hand if it meant it pissed her off.

As we made our way into the building, the whispers grew even more evident. A couple of werewolves bowed to Quentin whenever they passed him.

He simply responded with a curt nod or sometimes, with nothing at all. Their whispers were anything but low-key and I could hear every bit of what they were saying.

"She’s gorgeous."

"I know right."

"The famed Princess Thea. She’s even more of a goddess in person."

"And that body? My goodness."

"Like she’d been blessed by the Moon God himself."

"Bet he took a day off just to make her. Goddamn."

If not for Olavir’s potion that had given me back by wolf instincts, I wouldn’t have heard what they were saying. They were speaking in hushed, quiet tones but I’d been able to pick up most of it thanks to my heightened hearing.

I turned to Quentin, staring at him innocently. "What are they whispering about? Is it about me?"

He slowly nodded his head, a calm look in his eyes. "They’re saying you look far better standing next to me than you did with that Alpha Prince last night."

I rolled my eyes before shaking my head. Of course, I nodded my head, making him think I believed every word of what he said. He still didn’t know I was back to being a wolf and I intended to keep it that way for now.

"Alright," Quentin let out a breath. "I’ll be there in a second."

The beta nodded his head, his gaze flicking to me ever so slightly before he turned away. Quentin hurriedly moved towards the elevator, about to get in when something in his head lit up.

He turned back to me, as if suddenly aware that I was still very much there. I fixed him an unamused look before slowly shaking my head.

This wasn’t surprising. I made a point of staring back at him not giving him a single ounce of respite.

During the course of our tour, Quentin had told me that only he and his beta were authorized to ride the elevator. No other personnel, not even Claire had gone on it before.

"You stepping in or not?" I raised an eyebrow.

His gaze briefly drifted to the elevator and then back to me, like he was contemplating whether taking me with him would be a good decision to make.

After another second of deliberating it, he dragged me into the elevator with him. Quentin’s beta simply watched without saying a word.

From a distance, I could see Claire still fuming. As she watched me standing in the elevator, her rage seemed to skyrocket to the roof.
