Luna's Deadly Deception: How She Made Her Alpha Pay novel Chapter 92

I knew I’d done my make-up really well before I left the palace. Was it my beauty then? He looked at a loss for words.

After a while, he finally cleared his throat. Just when he was about to speak, I held a finger to my lips. He remained quiet.

Without another word, I slowly stepped back from him. The smile never left my face as I began to take off my Magnuset.

Each move was calm and calculated as I was very much aware of all the eyes that were focused on me. I handed the Magnuset to a maid before slowly making a small twirl.

For the occasion, I’d chosen a snow-white dress and paired it off with the sapphire necklace that rested around my neck.

The whispers and murmurs got louder as a couple of people drew closer. They took their time in admiring the dress, not bothering to hide their amazement.

"She looks so beautiful."

"Astonishing."

"I expect nothing less from Princess Thea."

"Talk about flat out gorgeous."

"You look amazing, Princess Thea."

I turned to see a nobleman standing there. His dirty blonde hair had been neatly styled. His hands were tucked into the pants of his suit as he stared at me.

"Why thank you." I sent him a smile.

He put a hand on his chest before giving me a small bow. Of course, along with the compliments I got from other people came the taunts and snide remarks.

"What about her ex-mate?"

I turned to see a group of high ladies standing to the side. They regarded me with an air of arrogance surrounding them.

I didn’t pay much heed to their words but that didn’t deter them at all. They continued with all their taunts and mockery.

"Yet she came here with another man. Talk about shameless."

"I’m not surprise. He’s not the first man they’re seeing her with."

"She must have her own harem of them at this point."

"Crazy."

I blocked out most of their noise and looked for Haelor instead. This was a dinner party, and I’d be damned if I let a few chattering parrots ruin it for me.

"Lovely necklace by the way." He complimented me.

"You wouldn’t say." I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at him.

He knew exactly what he was doing, with the small compliments and making a show of touching the necklace. And he knew Haelor’s eyes were on us.

Without another word, he made his way to the stage. When he got up there, his eyes flicked to me briefly before he turned to face the crowd.

"Let’s get this auction started now." He began.

"Thea."

Haelor was beside me once again. His gaze shifted to the sapphire necklace. After admiring it for a while, he finally looked at me.

"They’re the exact same colour as Quentin’s eyes."

An unreadable look passed over his eyes. It was odd, and unlike the soft look that had been in his eyes all evening.

But then just as soon as it came, it disappeared again. And there it was, that shy look on his face as he stared back into my eyes.
