Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 106

Grant crushed his cigarette into the ashtray, leaning back and crossing his legs. "By the way, did you guys hear? Silas got attacked."

Sebastian froze, whiskey glass halfway to his mouth. "Attacked? How?"

Grant shrugged. "No idea. It's all over the news. They're saying the eldest Lancaster heir was ambushed, got his hand skewered by a blade, and is recovering in the hospital."

"The bastard sure knows how to play the victim. He didn't even try to kill the story—he let it blow up everywhere."

Hudson lifted his gaze, shooting Grant an icy look.

Grant swallowed hard. "Hudson, why are you looking at me like that? It's not like I did it."

"I stabbed him," Hudson said casually.

Dead silence descended on the room.

Grant’s jaw dropped. The unlit cigarette fell from his mouth, burning a hole straight through his trousers before he panicked and slapped it away.

"You did what?!"

Sebastian was equally paralyzed. Some of his whiskey sloshed onto his hand, but he didn't even notice.

"You did that, Hudson?"

Hudson ignored them, looking down to toy with his silver lighter.

The metallic click-clack echoed sharply in the quiet room.

Grant and Sebastian exchanged bewildered looks.

When the news broke, they had cheered internally, wondering who had the guts to do it.

They never expected Hudson to be the one holding the knife.

"That son of a bitch is definitely playing the sympathy card."

Grant frowned deeply. "You gave him a flesh wound, and he turns around and paints himself as a martyr. With the media blasting it 24/7, people actually think he's the victim."

Sebastian agreed. "It's a dirty play. He struck first to control the narrative. The Lancaster board of directors already favors him; this just gives them more ammo."
