Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 165

Hearing the door open, Hudson kept his eyes shut and commanded hoarsely, "Ice."

Nora hurried over, grabbed the ice bucket, and tipped some into the tub.

The cubes splashed heavily into the freezing water.

Nora paused midway and glanced up, only to find him staring right at her.

The feverish haze had practically fried Hudson's senses. Seeing Nora suddenly standing there, he looked utterly disoriented.

He couldn't tell if she was real or just another hallucination.

"Nora?"

Nora rushed to his side and reached out to check his forehead.

"How do you feel? Still hurting?"

Hudson didn't reply. He just stared at her, unblinking.

The intense scrutiny made Nora squirm. "I'm sorry, I didn't know..."

Her voice dropped, laden with guilt. "If I had known you were sick, I never would have called."

Her guilt pushed her to try and make it up to him.

She scooped more ice from the bucket and dropped it into the water.

"Is that enough ice? Do you need more?"

Hudson stayed silent.

He rested against the porcelain rim. The confusion in his eyes slowly faded, replaced by something dangerously dark.

In his head, he rationalized that Arthur was guarding the door and never would have let her inside.

Which meant this had to be a dream.

Hudson's thoughts drifted.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time he'd dreamt of her.

Ever since she moved into Cloudwater Estate, his nights had been plagued with exactly this.
