Nora's face turned beet red, and she shook her head vehemently.

Nora looked down at him.

Forced to meet her eyes, a tender smile played on Hudson's lips, looking incredibly patient. "Go ahead."

"Your sister Tiffany showed up at Cloudwater Estate yesterday. She knows I married you under a fake identity."

"And?"

Nora bit her lip. "And she told me I have three days to leave you, or she's going to out me to the press, ruin my life, and drag the Reed family down with me."

Hudson said nothing, his thumb simply stroking her ankle.

"Is that why you lied to get me to come home last night?"

Nora dropped her gaze guiltily. "I didn't know what to do. You said you weren't coming back, and I thought you were planning some kind of revenge against me."

"Revenge?"

Hudson let out a low chuckle. The vibration rumbled through his chest, making the hands cupping his face tremble.

"If I wanted revenge, do you honestly think you'd be sitting here right now?"

Nora blinked. "So you mean... you're not mad?"

He didn't answer, just pulled her hands away and went back to massaging her feet.

"I'll deal with Tiffany."
