Nora glared at him and pulled out a chair. "Whose fault do you think that is?"
Hudson chuckled softly, pushing his plate toward her.
"Heading to the office today?"
"Yeah. Leo has a recording session today, and I need to keep an eye on things."
"Have Arthur drop you off."
"No need, I can drive myself."
"Your foot isn't fully healed."
"You can't even tell with my shoes on."
"You need pressure to use the gas and brake pedals."
Nora choked on her words. Before she could argue further, Hudson had already turned toward the door.
"Arthur, get the car ready."
"...Right away, sir."
Nora opened her mouth but ultimately decided against fighting him on it.
The black Maybach pulled out of Cloudwater Estate, merging into the morning rush hour traffic.
As they neared Star Tower, Nora sat up straight and tapped the back of the driver's seat.
"Arthur, pull over at the intersection ahead."
Arthur glanced at her in the rearview mirror. "Ma'am, Mr. Lancaster instructed me to drop you off right at the front entrance."
"No, no, the intersection is fine."
Nora quickly waved her hands. "If my colleagues see me getting out of this car, the rumors will start flying again."
Arthur remained silent for a second before pulling over at the upcoming intersection.
Nora pushed the door open, waving at him. "Go on, drive safe."
Arthur watched her walk toward the plaza of Star Tower. Just as he was about to turn the car around, he caught a flash of movement in his peripheral vision.
A silver sedan on the opposite side of the road suddenly accelerated. The tires screeched violently against the asphalt, hurtling straight toward Nora.
Arthur's pupils contracted.
He slammed on the gas. The heavy Maybach launched forward like an enraged predator.
The heavy frame of the vehicle aggressively wedged itself between the silver sedan and Nora.
