Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 190

The man's broad, warm palm entirely enveloped her ear, completely blocking out the ambient noise of the ballroom.

Nora blinked in surprise, instinctively looking up.

Hudson was staring down at her.

The residual frost still clung to the edges of his eyes, but as he looked at her, the dark depths of his pupils seemed to thaw entirely.

"Be a good girl, honey..."

His voice filtered through the gaps in his fingers, muffled and deeply soothing, like it was wrapped in velvet.

"We don't listen to the ravings of impotent men."

He emphasized the word *impotent* with a biting clarity.

Grant froze for a split second before a loud snort escaped him. He slapped a hand over his mouth, his shoulders violently shaking as he tried to contain his laughter.

Silas's face instantly turned a violent shade of purple. He clenched his fists, lunging forward.

"Silas."

A smooth, cultured voice rang out from behind.

It wasn't loud, and in fact, it sounded remarkably gentle, but Silas instantly froze as if someone had hit a pause button on his nervous system.

He slowly uncurled his fists, his arms dropping heavily to his sides. He shot Hudson a look of sheer, unadulterated venom, but ultimately backed down, retreating behind Lawrence with seething reluctance.

He looked exactly like a rabid dog whose owner had just yanked its choke chain—baring its fangs, foaming at the mouth, but completely terrified to take another step.

Lawrence reached out, patting Hudson on the shoulder. His eyes curved into that familiar, warm smile. "Hudson, it's your big day. Don't stoop to your older brother's level."

Hudson didn't reply. He merely glanced down at the exact spot on his shoulder where Lawrence had touched him. Arching an eyebrow, he reached up and methodically brushed the fabric, as if dusting off a speck of filth.

Lawrence watched him do it without dropping his smile. His gaze lazily drifted over to Nora.

"This must be your beautiful bride. Stunning, truly. No wonder you kept her hidden away, you wouldn't even send your own uncle an invitation."
