"Grant."
Hudson raised an eyebrow. "What did he want?"
"He wanted me to be his lobbyist. He wants you to go hunting with them in Northampton."
Hudson looked down at her, his gaze lingering on her face for a second before a faint smile touched his lips. "Do you want to go?"
Nora quickly shook her head. "I'm not interested in that kind of stuff..."
Though she denied it, a small part of her was secretly intrigued.
She had never seen a real private hunting ground. She wondered what those exclusive playgrounds, which usually only existed in movies and novels, actually looked like. Let alone seeing how the ultra-rich heirs really spent their weekends.
But she couldn't go.
She had seen how insanely busy Hudson had been these past few days.
Every night when she fell asleep, he was still in his study. Every morning when she woke up, he was already at the company.
She refused to add to his burden.
Reading her mind, Hudson tightened his arm around her, pulling her flush against his chest.
"If you want to go, I can push some work back and take you out for a few days."
Startled, Nora shook her head vigorously. "No, no, focus on your work. I'm really not interested."
"A massive wave of military orders just came in. As the lead director, I have to keep a close eye on the production lines. But the bulk of the heavy lifting is done; it's mostly just details now. The team can handle the rest."
He paused, looking deeply into her eyes. "So, do you want to go?"
Nora bit her lip and shook her head again. "I'm honestly not interested."
Hudson stared at her for two solid seconds before laughing.
"Alright, then we won't go."
Just as the words left his mouth, a sharp knock sounded at the door.
"Ms. Reed, you have a package."
