Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 216

"I don't know how to act cute," Nora replied.

Grant was fired up. On the other end of the line, he pinched his nose and perfectly mimicked a whiny, exaggerated voice. "Hubby~ I really want to go~"

"..." Nora's hand jerked, nearly dropping her phone.

Grant's voice grew even more sickly sweet, dragging out the syllables like they were coated in syrup.

"Hubby~ You're the best~ You love me the most, right~ Just say yes~"

Nora couldn't stop laughing, waving her hand even though he couldn't see her. "No, I absolutely cannot do that..."

Grant sighed in disappointment. "Fine. I'll have someone send you a little something. Use it tonight when you're coaxing him, and I guarantee it'll double your chances of success."

"What kind of something?"

Grant dodged the question. "I'll have a courier drop it off for you."

Just as he hung up, a knock sounded at her office door.

Nora blinked in surprise—how did it arrive that fast?

She put her phone down and pulled the door open, completely freezing in her tracks.

Hudson was leaning casually against the doorframe, a dangerous, playful smirk on his lips.

"Why are you here?" Nora instinctively glanced toward the open-concept office behind him, feeling like a thief as she quickly pulled him inside and shut the door.

"Picking my wife up from work."

Hudson stepped in, naturally sliding his arm around her waist. "Why are you acting so sneaky? You're treating this like we're having a secret affair."

Nora glared at him, her cheeks flushed. She tried to pry his hand off her waist, keeping her voice at a frantic whisper. "Stop messing around, we're at the office."

Instead of letting go, Hudson tightened his grip. The warmth of his palm pressed perfectly against her curves as his thumb stroked her side.
