Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 229

Grant sauntered over with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"So, Nora, how was Hudson's shooting today?"

Nora was crouched on the ground, admiring the deer the guys had brought back. She looked up, oblivious to the double meaning, and nodded. "He was amazing. He didn't miss a single shot."

Grant's smirk widened as he dragged out his words. "Of course! He's been polishing that weapon for twenty-something years. I'd expect nothing less."

Nora blinked, still nodding innocently.

"Especially when things get wild in the woods, his stamina is definitely—"

Before Grant could finish his sentence, a heavy boot slammed into his backside.

He pitched forward, nearly face-planting in the dirt, stumbling several steps before he finally caught his balance.

"If you make one more dirty joke, I'll rip your tongue out. Try me," Hudson warned coldly.

Nora finally realized what Grant had been implying. Her face flushed a furious crimson, the heat rushing all the way from her ears down to her neck.

Sebastian shot Grant a dirty look.

If this idiot died mysteriously one day, it would absolutely be because of his big mouth!

He quickly stepped in to smooth things over, clearing his throat. "Uh... we had a pretty good haul today. Three rabbits, a deer, and a fox. Sorry, Hudson, looks like we win this round. Heh, about that bet we talked about..."

Before he could finish, Nora jumped up excitedly. "We caught a ti—"

Grant rubbed his backside, his eyes going wide. "A what?"

"...A tiger!"

Nora corrected herself quickly, though the tips of her ears were still pink.

Grant and Sebastian exchanged bewildered glances and slowly turned toward the dark green pickup truck.

There was indeed a massive iron cage in the truck bed. It was solid and square, with bars as thick as a child's wrist.

A staff member threw back the green tarp covering it...

Inside the cage lay a massive, yellow-and-black striped beast. Its fur was vivid, its stripes bold, its head the size of a washbasin, and its paws wider than a grown man's hand.
