Olive scoffed and launched herself forward, shooting off the ground like a cannonball.
The heavy spiked chains seemed to come alive in her hands, weaving a deadly, inescapable steel net that roared through the air straight toward Arthur.
Instead of retreating, Arthur stepped into the strike zone. He sidestepped the first heavy sphere and whipped the end of his staff up, precisely striking the side of the second chain, violently deflecting its trajectory.
"Damn, you've been practicing in secret, haven't you? You got faster!"
Missing her strike, Olive skipped back three paces, but the chains never stopped spinning. She launched a relentless barrage, each strike faster and more vicious than the last.
The deafening clang of metal against wood echoed across the courtyard.
"Archer! Get over here and help me wreck your brother! Let's jump him!"
Archer was sitting under a palm tree with Bane in his lap, laughing so hard he was gasping for air.
"That's my flesh-and-blood brother! If I help you jump him, he'll literally flay me alive later!"
"Are you terrified of him or something? What's he gonna do, eat you?"
"He won't eat me, but he will dock my paycheck."
"...Pathetic!"
Olive cursed, scooped up the momentum of her chains, and charged at Arthur again.
Just then, a security guard jogged into the courtyard. Seeing Olive chasing Arthur around with terrifying spiked medieval weaponry, he froze in his tracks.
He glanced over at Archer, who was chilling on a stone bench cuddling a massive, intimidating German Shepherd that looked like it owned the place.
The guard's calves started to tremble.
Noticing him, Archer grinned and waved him over, lightly holding Bane's snout to keep the dog from barking.
"What's up?"
The guard swallowed hard and forced himself to walk closer, lowering his voice. "Archer, there's a woman at the main gate. She claims to be the Madam, and she's holding a certified marriage certificate... It looks real... She said her name is Jade Reed..."
Archer blinked. "What?"
Thud!
A heavy, sickening sound rang out.
Olive's chained sphere smashed directly into Arthur's shoulder, sending him staggering sideways.
It wasn't because he couldn't dodge.
It was because the moment he heard the name 'Jade Reed', his focus snapped.
